GR86 The GR86 “The Orders / Owners List / GR86 Register”

When they said w/c 11th April did they specify a year? :p

No response from my dealer to an email I sent today.

I see there's a double-page advert in Car magazine for the GR range including the 86, hopefully our orders are sorted before the magazine and YouTuber hype starts!
That’s what I’m hoping, just want to be excited knowing I’ll get one rather than the dread of missing out! I’d have to stump up an extra 10k for the new CTR if I miss out.. wouldn’t pay over list from the inevitable scalpers.

Are we not limited by how many cars they're actually allocating to the UK? In Germany there were only 200 (?) cars available and they sold out very quickly. Perhaps there will be a larger allocation in 2023 but I think we're all wanting our cars in July 2022!

Fingers crossed! It’s the fact they can’t be sold here after 2024 that will limit the special editions we get. Although historically it’ll just be paint and a body kit or something.

It’s also the case that orders closed in Germany after ten days, they obviously know raw materials and semiconductors are at a premium so why would they commit to let’s say 10,000 units for Europe if they can’t guarantee they can be built before the 2024 deadline? I’m sure they’d rather allocate more cars to America etc with more relaxed emissions and safety legislation.

Just my opinion working in the industry, the issue here is for every GR86 sold in UK, Germany, France..etc and overall in Europe Toyota Motor Europe as legal entity has to offset GR86 200g co2/km emissions with less or zero emissions vehicles to offset the overall company’s total average emissions all vehicles sold yearly of 95 g CO2/ km for 2020-2024. So it’s not what they can produce or manufacture or source parts, it’s what the excel matrix shows of how much vehicles at high co2 can be in the mix without exceeding the limits resulting in millions of fine or going to other OEM for carbon offset. Which Toyota as a company will not do ! So the allocation of low numbers for GR86. Hope this helps.

Let’s hope sales of the bZ4X take off to help the fleet average 😉 Here‘s an idea for Toyota , buy a bZ4X and get a GR86 half price 🤔 Worth a try 🤣

The additional cost for paint options does not appear to be affecting choice , Electric Blue being one of the most expensive but being the most popular so far, 33%, with Ignition Red , Crystal Black and Pearl White all very similar numbers 🤔

Interesting that Toyota brought out the Club Series Blue Edition in Electric Blue (DAR) at the end of the GT86 lifespan 😎

Before we knew about the UK spec I thought the premium model & optional paint was going to easily hit £33k+.

The paint was very easily justified with the OTR being under £31k 😁

Also, to help fellow members I spoke to my dealer Manager last night before dealership closed. According to them my order and other orders are electronically loaded in their side of dealership order system for Toyota, but officially Toyota GB was not accepting the order as of last night to generate a order reference. They already requested digital signatures for vehicle and finance.
The key thing is to use the same email address and mobile number to register for my Toyota account as given to dealership while ordering to immediately see and follow progress once the order is officially submitted/received by Toyota GB/UK.

From what I understand dealers with orders have done as much as they can for now and it’s out of their hands. Weather forecast is looking decent for the weekend , I’m planning on relaxing with some beer 🍺 and Easter Eggs 👍😎

Hello All,

Deposit placed on Monday afternoon for a Manual in Ignition Red. The dealer said he already had 14 orders so fingers crossed I haven't missed the boat....
Out of interest where about‘s is your dealer? I’m in East Yorkshire and the local dealer in Hull had only 3 orders , mine , another forum member and a guy waiting outside at 9.00 am Monday morning .

Will be interesting to see where all the GRs are ( Edit will be going) going 🤔

PS if you get ants around your house/garage the little bu🤬🤬ers have woken up for Easter , get the ant powder out 😱

My dealer is in Stratford on Avon. I don't think he really knew exactly what was going on with either build numbers or allocations. Initially he told me there would be 1500 UK cars, then he changed that to 1000 cars when I went to put down my deposit.
I've had a weird few days, I have potentially sold my old car (buyer waiting on a flat sale to fund it but due to complete any day) and put a deposit on the GR86. So I 'may' have sold my old car and 'may' have bought a new one. Strange times.....

What a mess, just got told that orders are now online only. Tuesday 10am
Who told you this, out of interest?

I mean to me that sounds really unreasonable unless the original order had been online...

Otherwise Toyota are sticking two fingers up to their entire dealer network, particularly the GR centres, and alienating anyone that doesn't want to, or doesnt have the capacity to, make an online purchase...

It was James from RRG Macclesfield Toyota, my deposit is getting refunded shortly. Pretty sad story for all the GR centres
