Haha. that's about as 'car guy' as a compliment gets. I'm not sure I can think of anything that says, "I'm a driving nerd" more than that.“nice brakes!”.
Did he ask about their resilience to fade?

Bit of a bump to your post, but how are you finding these are holding up? I've just got around to ordering mine and they should be here for the weekend.

I watched the video of fitting them and I can't quite work out how they adhere to the light. Are they self adhesive, so the slip solution just prevents adhesion and then they stick as soon as that's squeeged out?
I can't help thinking that they will just be ripped off the first tine a pressure washer goes over them.
Oooh. I'll bear that in mind. My car is ceramic coated, don't know if they went over the headlights too.Just a warning as I complete forgot but they don't stick very well to ceramic coated headlights...
When I had mine done (ceramic coat) they did everything except the windscreen.Oooh. I'll bear that in mind. My car is ceramic coated, don't know if they went over the headlights too.
Mmm... I've got a low wall hazard like that as well.
Yeah better not knock my parents' wall over...Mmm... I've got a low wall hazard like that as well.![]()
Perhaps that's a local 'policy'? National Tyres quotes, "Any tyres rated ‘V’ and above can only have one puncture repair in the lifetime of the tyre."Decided to test out Toyota's free puncture repair policy.
Kingston Toyota ... declined to do a repair because the speed rating of the tyre is too high apparently. Only up to W is permitted.
Further to my initial 'rant'; even after my first cleaning attempt, more corrosive salts have appeared around (and on) each wheel nut. I'm assuming this to be as a result of the rain getting into the recesses and re-activating some of the solution. So today I removed each nut, flushed out the holes with GT85 ptfe Spray and sanded each one with 600/1200/1500 grit wet and dry, polished with fine wire wool and gave a final coating of GT85. Hopefully that should do it!Cleaned and polished each Tuner Nut with a Dremmel, metal polish and some fine wire wool. Not something I’d normally do until I discovered today that the ‘Simoniz Ultracare Car Alloy Wheel Cleaner’ I recently used, despite being “guaranteed to not corrode wheels”, makes a right bloody mess of silver tuner nuts. Most, if not all of them were etched. Another product consigned to the shite shelf.![]()
I think screwfix will have the purchase recorded on your account? If you bought it online or through the app the receipts/invoices are stored for a certain period of time but you can contact them to go further back if required. I’ve had to do this previously and found them to be helpful when returning/exchanging products.Further to my initial 'rant'; even after my first cleaning attempt, more corrosive salts have appeared around (and on) each wheel nut. For information, I have inserted some photos of the re-emergence of these corrosive salts on a selection of the nuts. I have emailed Simoniz customer services, but none-the-less, my advice would be to avoid this product.

My Screwfix Torque Wrench (5yr guarantee) also decided to fall apart with 2 nuts left to do. Yeah, in true FML fashion I couldn't find the feckin' invoice, so I had to go buy the Halfords Advanced Torque Wrench Model 300, thankfully my Trade Card brought it down from £135 to £100![]()

Unfortunately it's too far back for them to recover. Probably a little over 4 years or on the hairy edge of 5, which is no doubt why it decided to wrap its tits in and grind to a cold-welded halt during the last adjustment. The Halfords one has a lifetime Guarantee - hopefully my lifetime and not that of a mayfly...Just log on to your Screwfix account, go to my account and the purchase will be in your “history”, receipts are so over rated….
