I had a FK8 for over 4 years before selling it to carwow.FK8's pre lockdown were heading to £25k, then lockdown happened and they rocketed, the last FL cars in blue were around £46k at one point and only now settling down to normal levels. FL5's started more expensive and they are a lot rarer but they should still steadily come down but probably now as fast as the FK8's.

In that whole time it cost me less than 7 grand to own (apart from fuel and insurance)
Cheapest car I've had for a long time!
21/22k I think. I daily a vanHow many miles did you do?
Have you driven a modern type-R? If not then you are in for a treat if you like driving INSANELY FAST!Possibly a mix of the car not being quite what some hoped or the cost/repayments needed when people need money for other things. Or jumping ship while prices are still fairly strong.
Im keeping an eye on FL5 Civic Type-R prices, if they come close to what I can get for the 86 then I think I'll be moving over
My test drive of the FK8 was just like that as I came from an Octavia vRS at stage 2 thinking how much better would it be really. Pushed through a section, chained a few corners together thinking this is good then glanced at the speedo and was way faster than I expected.Have you driven a modern type-R? If not then you are in for a treat if you like driving INSANELY FAST!
The FK8 was the most practical and capable car I've ever had by quite a large margin and the FL5 is supposedly slightly better in every regard.
If it was RWD it would have been my forever car. The chassis balance is so sweet, but in the end, the fun comes when you're driving like you're in the BTCC. Given its capability at high speed and that I'm not very good at restraining myself, I decided to get rid of it before I lost my licence or went through the pearly gates in a fireball of red cloth and vulgar (but somehow beautiful) bodywork.

I was lucky enough to take the last of the FK8's to EVO car of the year in Anglesea and the Scottish boarders from Hampshire. The further I got into Wales the more the R came alive and it was just unbelievable how fast it was cross country. The 2nd jaunt from Manchester to Scotland I did mainly away from the motorway late at night... you can imagine how that went and to this day it was maybe the drive that stands out in my whole life! But you're right, it was so good when you're going fast it was only when you saw the actual speed you realised how deep into jail you would be heading!!Have you driven a modern type-R? If not then you are in for a treat if you like driving INSANELY FAST!

Wonder how many imports there are in UK? I guess this one is going to be relatively affordable - Pretty interesting to see the interior differences
Apart from they won’t get the 10 year warranty. It's the imports that will knacker our resduals. Probably slightly preferable spec too, no GPF etc. I'd love a Ridge Green edition...
Is that an amp in the boot?
Could be. There might just be fewer of them though. In the second wave of orders -at least when I got mine - light blue was unavailable.I wonder if Light Blue GR86 owners hold onto theirs for a little longer? Currently of the 36 on AutoTrader only One is light blue. That car seems to have been on AT for ages though - could be because it’s located bloody miles from anywhere, tucked up in Lochgilphead of course.
Possibly, but compared to Silver for example, there were over twice as many light blue cars bought in the first batch, so numbers might have just evened out a bit?…There might just be fewer of them though.
IIRC wasn't the first batch about 600 cars? About 1/3 of those were EB so 200 ish, there is around 1600 to 2000 max in total (still waiting for the final quarterly number up to July 2024 cutoff) so around 10% will be EB all told, so EBs will probably be harder to find second hand just by the law of averages.Possibly, but compared to Silver for example, there were over twice as many light blue cars bought in the first batch, so numbers might have just evened out a bit?
