GR86 Windshield replacement

I received a call on the morning of my latest appointment with Autoglass to say I have to take the car into their workshop as the glass requires calibration.
Booked in for Thursday 18th May now.

I know it's common sense, but make sure to take thorough pictures of the car, inside and out, and record the mileage before dropping it off to them.
I'm always a bit wary of leaving my car in hands of random technicians.

No, manual gearbox. When I questioned it, they just said because it's a brand new car.
I didn't consider the fact they probably haven't done anyMore like "we haven't done one of these yet and don't want it to bugger it up in front of you".
Can you tell I'm dreading leaving my car with them?
guess that's the problem with low production cars, people aren't gonna be as familiar with doing work on them, but you'd hope that actually makes them more careful rather than being complacent out of familiarity.--Rage--

Still waiting on a call back from concierge team to arrange a repair and discuss replacement. In the time the crack keeps growing right across drivers eye line. Hailstones and the change in weather hasn’t helped at all.

My windscreen finally got replaced today - it didn't need to be calibrated, someone at Autoglass had got confused with regards to the eyesight feature on the Automatic model.
I didn't request an OEM replacement, but the chap at Autoglass says it's the same screen from the same manufacturer anyway.

Great news, how long did you have to wait for the part?
How long did the appointment take, and are you happy with the quality of windscreen + work?

2 months since I chipped it, first visit was a repair, which I wasn't happy with
Then they ordered the wrong screen, re-booked, then cancelled on the morning of the 3rd appointment and advised to bring into one of their workshops. I think it was 4 weeks to get the correct screen in.

I can't see any issues with it. They quoted me 4 hours initially, but it only took them 1.5hrs.

£25 for the initial repair and £90 for the windscreen replacement. Both from insurance. I think I've seen £900ish quoted somewhere for a replacement cost without insurance. But don't quote me on that.

Called AutoGlass up yesterday, they said the earliest available appointment is July 23rd 
they're going to check to see if OEM is faster as that hasn't been approved yet. I booked my appointment 4 weeks ago so that'll be a 3 month wait in total.
Someone else also looked at my window and they think it actually cracked from internal stress, not from a stone chip, as what I thought was an impact they said was too small, and due to the way you can see it's cracked it looks internal, so might have actually been caused by a manufacturing defect. Considering none of my other cars have ever had an issue, and there's so many of us that are needing windscreen replacements... I wonder if the GR86 has shitty glass, or if we got a bad batch of windscreens..

That might have come from my post above - here. GT86 was priced at £927 fitted so assuming similar costs, could be about a grand.
However, GR86 rarity/scarcity may well impact on this and the price might have gone up faster - proportionally - than a tin o'beans.

Anyone tried using RainX windscreen repair before? Seen some videos of how it can make the cracks less visible.
Can’t stand the thought of not being to use the car over summer. Honestly, shocking that Autoglass wouldn’t come out to stop it from spreading.
