I'm also lucky to have a garage queen, a Jaguar F Type Coupé bought at 6 months old with 220 miles on the odometer.Im lucky enough to have a garage queen for summer days and trips, the GR86 is meant to be a daily to replace an aging 320d on the basis i've been looking for a number of years for a manual, coupe with driving dynamics and good looks - its taken a while so while I really want to keep the 86 pristine, it feels one of the last chances to truly enjoy a drivers car over the next few years, so with a 10 year warranty it might/hope to be the car I keep forever. Maybe one day it'll retire from a daily and be a 2nd car for non commuting... the other thing i considered is if i have to go back to office commuting regularly, to keep the 86 as a daily non work car and buy a cheap golf diesel for the commute..
5.5 years later and the car has only covered 7,756 miles, driven only on dry summer days. It is a keeper.
Like you I too had been looking for a manual transmission naturally aspirated sports coupé with a competent chassis that isn't over burdened with technology, a window into the past and the GR86 appeared to fit the bill.
I have now had a test drive and it is clearly the car I have been waiting for. I agree with your view that this is the last chance to enjoy a car of this nature.
Unfortunately, I was unable to secure an order for one in time on 20th April but will now bide my time. I'm not interested in purchasing from a flipper.
Once purchased the GR86 will also be a keeper and it will be looked after.
There is no commuting requirement for work purposes as I took early retirement 4 years ago.
My wife's Audi SUV will be the work horse.
As one of 400 lucky individuals who managed to place an order, I hope you truly enjoy ownership.

My garage queen is my R35 GT-R 2010 with 24k miles, owned for the last 9 years, was dry use only but have been forced to drive it recently due to the long wait for the GR86 Electric Blue MT to be collected today (yipeee!)
The GR will get taken care of and max of 3k miles a year, just hope it meets my driving expectations!!!

Great stuff, it wont be long until GR86s appear at a reasonable price, there are a lot of dealer demo's which need to go somewhere and maybe unallocated. Not to mention the cost of living etc may change peoples minds over the 2 year delivery window.
Im mainly bothered now that the 86 might be too good for a daily, looking at the state of the cars on the drive after this weekend I dont want to do it!
but then the whole point of buying the 86 was to enjoy driving on a daily basis again, if it becomes an occasional use car then Im back to square 1 
My Boxster Spyder I've had since 11 mths old, 2010 with 30k miles now, thats the forever car for sure!

The Nissan R35 GT-R is a beautiful car with staggering performance.
I have driven one at the Three Sisters race track in 2019. It was an 18 plate in gold metallic and even though I personally couldn't have driven the car any faster at the end of my six laps the co driver/instructor told me I had only used 54% of the engines available power!
I hope the collection of your new GR86 runs smoothly today and following a recent test drive I'm sure the car will meet your expectations.

I concur with your thoughts about the condition of the roads presently, it's not a good time to keep cars clean with the salt and ice but it can only get better.
Also agree the GR86 will make daily driving more enjoyable with the naturally aspirated engine and manual gearbox.
The Boxster Spyder with the 3.4 litre flat six engine, an engineering masterpiece. Very rare car too!

In 2017 I decided to look at two seater coupés to replace my Mercedes CL500 (children now married)
I only had a list of two cars, the Jaguar F Type 3.0 V6 and a Porsche Cayman S with the 3.4 litre flat six.
I had four hour test drives of both cars.
The Porsche was one of the last flat six examples Porsche - Guilford had sold before the new 4 cylinder models appeared.
It was a nicely specced 16 plate with 3,200 miles on the odometer. The car was everything I was looking for with the wonderful sound track of the flat six but due to the very low seating position I believed as the years past I would find it increasingly difficult to get out of the car with any semblance of decorum.
Porsche Guilford wanted a significantly inflated price for the car too.
The Jaguar was at HA Fox in York, again nicely specced with a great soundtrack. It was the aesthetics of the F Type coupé and the fact I could get out of the car with ease that sealed my decision making.
However I still hold a candle for the Porsche Cayman S.

Under certain lights that looks rather nice. In that photo it reminds me of the BMW E46 M3 motorshow launch car in Shadow Chrome which I think cost a rumoured £20k at the time and was a one off.
