There have been threads about colours before, but I thought we could do with an update now that more of you have experienced owning the car in whatever colour you chose, and have possibly seen some others in the wild too.

Please share the positives and negatives of your colour choice (how fabulous it looks, or how classy or understated), how much it shows dirt (requiring more/less cleaning), how much attention it draws from others (good and bad), and also what you think of others you've seen, or if you'd choose differently now.

This might help a few of us who have yet to decide (not that I've received an invite yet, but I'm hopeful).

Many thanks

PS - useful video of the colours:

I've always liked sporty-looking cars in more understated colours, and have owned others in silver (993, Z4M) so it wasn't a particularly difficult decision for me.

It's the only time I've ever ordered a brand new car and chosen the colour myself.

Advantages include at least looking clean for longer (even if it isn't), and it is quite understated if you want that (I do).

I was tempted by the white, but my previous GT86 was white so wanted something different. Had the red interior been available in the UK I might have gone with white as my GT86 had that and I thought it worked well with the white (and also my mate's old Integra Type R which I think I drove almost as much as he did - fond memories of that car in the early noughties).

Whenever I see a dark blue picture posted (such as by my local comrade @Nick and @LukeC22 and others), I do wonder if I should have gone for that...

I don’t think there’s a bad choice of colour, they all look pretty good on the GR86. I’ve never had a white car, but was very tempted with white as it looks great on the GR86. The ‘Smurf’ blue just wasn’t for me (it does look great though), and I’ve had a few red and silver cars so wanted a change. I’ve had a couple of black cars, but they really are hard work keeping clean, so ruled that out. I’m happy I went with the Sapphire Blue, as it seems to be the only available colour that looks pearlescent, but it does need a bit of sunshine for it to look at its best. It’s not the easiest to keep clean, although getting it ceramic coated does seem to have made it easier when I do wash it. Photo’s don’t really do it justice, but no regrets choosing it

White and Sapphire Blue were in the running, but in the end went with Red, mainly because the other 2 cars are white and blue and I was going to px a Red car, as it is I am keeping it so will have 2 Red cars, hope they don't clash 😁

Edit,. Nick please don't post anymore pictures I have a feeling i may have chosen the wrong colour 😀😀

Firstly I don't think there is a duff choice.

My least favourite is black. Nightmare to keep clean and I'm not a fan of the murdered out look. Would need to change the wheel colour to silver personally. My practical car is also black.

The grey is ok and that's about all I can say about it. It doesn't pull at my heart strings.

The dark blue has really grown on me. The configurator reproduction looks well off compared to actual photos. I don't think it helped that most the images, including the linked video, seem to show this colour as a base spec car. Dark blue would normally be my choice for a practical car. Like silver fox, I could look back as the colour that got away.

Silver, Neptune and white where my joint second places. Neptune wasn't available for the 2nd batch, but I can see the appeal. Silver and white both make the black highlights of the car pop and work well with the wheels. If my last car wasn't also pearlescent white it could have been my choice. For everyday subtleness and ease of maintenance, silver and white make sense.

Then we come to my choice, red. This is a second, fun car so I don't mind it standing out. I'm not a big fan of black wheels and when they get kerbed (which they will) I will get them powdercoated to another colour, either silver or a light satin bronze. I think I liked the white because of the black wheels but the red will look better with a wider selection of finishes.

I like that it seems to be the launch colour in most the marketing which I know Doug Demuro also goes on. Toyota clearly seem to think the car suits red, which is nice to know!

I agree, but each has its strengths and weaknesses, and it's quite handy to learn about them from people with experience.

I’ve never had a white car, but was very tempted with white as it looks great on the GR86.

In the pictures I've seen, white does indeed look very nice.

Looks great - but you've cheated by taking a photo in sunshine :)

You've already got a Porsche in Sapphire Blue - having a GR86 in the same would have been greedy.

But if you were only allowed one car, and it had to be the GR86, what would you go for, the Sapphire, or Red?

😀 I know I must be mad. I think Red, but so difficult as the blue does look good and the white a good choice as well.

I went for Ice Silver, it seems to have a slight blue hint to it, and contrasts well with the black wheels and trim.
You can also see the lovely curves on the front and rear wings.
I generally don't like dark colours as they show all the dirt and dust, dark blue and black are a pain to keep clean.
Likewise White shows dirt.
Red always seems to go pink and fade, and grey....well that just reminds me of John Major!

How many of them have you seen IRL?

I have seen the rear of a white JDM import and the Electric Blue demo i drove.. At Goodwood last year I saw the Red and this year I saw the Black (albeit just drivng past on the track). I honestly like all the colours, I chose Red as at the time I was p/x my current red car, and I love the way red looks after a detail and wax.
