I can almost smell the blandness of that coffee from hereHere goes...first service is happening
Matched by the blandness of the sea of hybrid mediocrity in the showroomI can almost smell the blandness of that coffee from here![]()
An expensive coffee. Check the oil level before you leave I'd say.
A nice day out then!First service all concluded; no problems to report. Oil level as it should be. Complimentary wash and vacuum (I know, I know... I've already posted in the 'Confessions' thread).
I had the 'while you wait' service and sat in the customer 'lounge' and did some work/people watched.
I tell you what comrades, I have a new-found sympathy for dealership staff after seeing and hearing what they have to content with. This afternoon, this included:
Had a nice drive home which included encountering a nice 2012 white GT86 (just like my old one) with enthusiastic waving and thumbs up from the two blokes inside, and encountering a 2016 124 Spider 'Anniversary Edition' (just like my old one) with a thumbs up from the driver.
- Woman turning up (no booking) demanding someone fix her car as it "smelt funny" and "warning lights went off" after driving through deep water.
- Bloke trying to negotiate the price of a new AygoX down from £17k to "ten grand".
- Elderly couple wanting to see the bloke who sold them their car an unspecified time ago because the tyre pressure warning light had come on today.
- Bloke speaking with the parts representative was apparently asked by his mate to get a part, and proceeded to describe said part (which sounded like no part I have ever seen) to the bemused yet extremely patient parts representative.
- Bloke in a Motability contract who wanted to know how early he could have a new car (apparently three months can be done); he was a year into a five-year deal.
Here's to another 12 months of enjoyable, hassle-free motoring!
Ah Coventry at least they had all the parts for you. The oldish chap who mans the front desk is good to chat with.
I did something similar last week - thanks for the link to the car cover it makes a huge difference although takes a bit of practice getting it on and off!Although it’s not been anywhere and it had a full wash 2 days ago, I prepared the car to go undercover for a few weeks.
This involved a good wetting with ‘Carplan Trade Valet High Wax Rinse’ through a Miracle Grow lawn feeder; followed by a soft contact rinse and dry using ‘Auto Glym Quick Refresh’ and an ‘Auto Glym Instadry’ (a routine perfected at many car shows).
Now it’s tucked up again under a ‘Classic Additions Ultimate Outdoor Cover’ and ready for the next bout of Wintery weather.
[Does my bum look big in this?]

It most certainly does! The cover for the GR86 isn't half as bad as the one I had for the KonaN though, at least you can reach across the roof on the GR86 with it being so low. When I initially used these covers, I found myself sprinting from one side of the car to the other to prevent the cover sliding off the roof. I've since (almost) perfected the unfolding technique from the roof outwards; front and back then sides but, it does require the cover to have been folded and stored properly in the first place - no christmas lights scenario! I've also marked the clip 'pockets' with their locations (OSF, OSR, NSC, NSR etc) so that I can orientate the cover on the roof before I unfold it all. The straps are also marked and 'set' for their respective positions and I have a specific hooked cable rod to enable me to clip-on and throw the centre strap under the car out the other side ... yeah, I know, I'll get my coat...thanks for the link to the car cover it makes a huge difference although takes a bit of practice getting it on and off!
Thanks for the useful hints! BTW, cheap polyester wheel covers are a must if you want to keep the insides of the outdoor cover clean at the four corners - I found that tyre shine transfers across really easily and it is impossible to remove once it's dirtied the material of the outdoor cover.
Sorry to hear about your relativeSadly had my Clarkson Porsche 928 Moment with this car yesterday.
Had a call about an elderly relative going downhill last night, which means a cross country B Road blast into the early hours. Even in the cold, once the Temperatures are up, this thing is just so capable and balanced. My mind was elsewhere at times for sure. But there are times that you just can't fail to appreciate this thing.
Not once did I have a brown trouser moment or any doubts about what this car was going to do, where I could put the power down, and what the rear was doing. It's just so communicative.
She looks like I've been rallying in the daylight, but really appreciative of this awesome bit of kit today.
Wow - someone had more than a satsuma and a bag of nuts for Christmas!Today I will mostly be having fun with this bad boy: https://motocompacto.honda.com/

It's not that, he's raking it in from his boot closing strap profits.Wow - someone had more than a satsuma and a bag of nuts for Christmas!
I actually spent the small profit made on Christmas presents for kids at a local charity. It's not that, he's raking it in from his boot closing strap profits.
Oh no, he's turned to the dark-side and become an E-Scooter owning criminal! It looks like a radiator on wheels. Mind your purse Grandma, he'll have it away!Today I will mostly be having fun with this bad boy: https://motocompacto.honda.com/
