GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Not the biggest fan of Black wheels (even though my car is darker blue with Black wheels ;) ) but on your 86 they look great IMO, so I would probably leave them.

But if I was going to change them perhaps dark silver or Grey would be my choice.

It's probably going to be a graphite or bronze colour . . .

Yes, well within a month or so as I noticed surface rust starting to develop when it was on the storage lift in the garage. Very easy application on axle stands and lots left over to reapply next year. I also used the grease supplied on some of the nuts and bolts and can still see it in place. I was a bit skeptical but a few months on with some Winter driving it seems to have done the job. I also use an under chassis cleaner when cleaning the car but doesn't seem to have taken off the Lanoguard.

My Nextbase regularly falls off in heat so one turn of cable around mirror fixing leaving filter exposed. I may cable tie later.

Easy to tuck cable under headlining and down A pillar, small section of wire visible routing from A pillar down to side of dash at joint.

12v socket is ignition switched.

It makes easier if you pop out the glove box. Just move right section to left and unhook stay on left.

Once box tilts down falls off pivots.

I may tidy up later, but wanted installed as it has saved me in past !

I think they look alright. I've only attached them temporarily for now, so if I still like the look of them tomorrow I'll fix them properly.


Edited to add: They look yellow-green in the pictures. Rest assured, they are not. The satin finish is reflecting the lush Warwickshire plant life surrounding my drive!

Excellent! Beat me to it. That's one of the colours I was thinking of (as well as blue). It's great to be able to see how the Yellow looks on a Grey car. My local place also apply a GR logo to their painted calipers, so I might just front up the £250 when the time comes for mine as I'm lazy... 😋

did mine with red caliper paint a while ago and got some logos, total cost about £20 and a nice weekend on the drive listening to some tunes. Holding up well after 6 months.

Paint was from Amazon, one tin allowed 3 coats with plenty left over. The decals I got online but not sure exactly where but something like the pic attached with a variety of sizes as there isn't much space on the rear calipers.

A friend just painted his upgraded new Brembo calipers (as part of a full front and back fast road set up) on a very fast Saab 95 saloon (about 300bhp at the mo) in Porsche Bronze - I don't usually go for that type of thing but these are stunning!!
 
Yeah - I think they are pretty solid now.

Definitely don't think the pin version would be necessary if you have the patience, I did drop my seats right back to get a gravity assist to stop them falling down while the tape set.
 
I can’t decide whether I want to draw attention to the puny callipers by painting them a bright
colour. 🤔 Or whether to paint them black once the OEM finish tarnishes. I’ve painted them on previous cars in the past in bright colours and get annoyed when they get dirty. It’s been known for me to take the wheels off and clean them with a toothbrush. 🙈 I don’t have time for that kind of indulgence/malarkey nowadays.

Yes. They said they give the brakes a blow-out too. Takes a whole working day though (0900-16:30), so a maybe a train trip to Glasgow is in order for something to fill the day…
