GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Lowered the rear a couple more mm this afternoon. Couple months on the Bilsteins and still absolutely loving them!

One of the many reasons I bought a GR86 - managed to fit my 56cm road bike in the boot no problem. Only had to remove the front wheel and lower the seat post...

Which subsequently resulted in a sheared seat post clamp bolt on re-torquing! Thankfully, after some frantic calls, the good people of Huntly found a solution and let me complete my first 100 mile ride.

I'm not posting a photo of the state of bike in the boot after the ride, for fear of detailing community reprisals!

What do you think the chances are of getting a 29er trail bike in there? Both wheels off I imagine

Not my discipline but I can't see why it wouldn't fit with both wheels off. The tightest bit was the opening and getting the seat and bottom crank though the boot opening. My bike fitted pretty comfortably and I could have made more space by moving the passenger seat forward.

A seasucker on the roof/boot would be another possibility.

I wouldn’t subject mine to the filth but it’s fair to say short of taking out both wheels, removing the pedals, dropping the fork and bars out and likely disconnecting the shock to collapse the frame in on itself it wouldn’t be getting anywhere near fitting in. And this one isn’t even the longest wheelbase of my N+1 inflicted collection. 🙈

Took it to Donington for the BTCC

Spotted another on the GR stand!

This one has PPF in the front as it does some track work apparently.

Had a chat with the GR chap - he didn't have any useful insider info about numbers or anything.

Did a bit of fanboying at the Gazoo Racing garage:

Went for a drive this morning. Then came home and gave the interior a good clean. I actually bought a cheaper refurbished Henry vacuum specifically for car cleaning the other day. Nice long Jose makes it easy to use inside the car and it sucks harder than your mum.

Does anyone know...is our steering wheel actually real leather? Want to know if I should be using proper leather cleaner with it. For now I've just wiped it with a damp cloth. I'm always a bit wary of using products on the wheel, incase I turn it into a frictionless mess.

Yes, it’s leather.

Thanks for the feedback both - guess I’ll give it a go when the bike is cleaned and then think over whether it’s something I reallly want to be doing. As I just spent the best part of 800 quid on roof bars and box for winter jaunts to the alps in the X3 I’m not feeling particularly keen to splash out on sea suckers right now too

If it’s any help for dimension comparison mine is an XL, wheelbase etc can be found here. One of my other bikes has a wheelbase another 4cm longer which is an even bigger pig to get in the vehicles it gets transported in. I considered racks but a whole host of reasons not least the value and potential for being followed home ruled that out!
