GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Getting soapy 😍

Well, it wasn't quite as dry as I thought. Still some slippery roads, but I had some good opportunities to open it up (almost) fully for the first time. It's great fun, fast enough and with great feel and I don't even mind the fake engine noise. Some shots at the top of Bulbarrow Hill. 😁

Looks like a few of us couldn't resist a chance to wash it today. Did mine too. Very quick wash, but the ceramic coat made it easy, paintwork felt smooth as glass. Unfortunately, discovered a stone chip low down on the front bumper. Boo :(

Main reason for washing the car was so I could fit the mudguards, supplied courtesy of @PVGR. Very easy to fit. One of the rear ones isn't perfect though, doesn't fit fully flush to the bodywork. Irritating but livable...especially as the very lowest point of the rear arch was already peppered and feeling rough to the touch. So I'm glad I've got them fitted.

Also changed the oil, as the car was in the air anyway.

Followed a mclaren through the windy b roads of Northamptonshire just now. Both Overtook a pensioner going into a 60 and off he flew, and mine decided to step out sideways when going for the overtake ! Too much power I think, that mclaren would've been toast if it was dry [emoji102]

My friend Alex Dias is a photographer and he took some pics of my car. This one is my favourite

The rest are on his website here

Great photos. Makes me realise what mine might look like it is wasn't caked in mud!

Took it for a quick spin, definitely think it adds a bit of noise, and obviously 50hp [emoji16]
I take it you've disabled the sound module to notice the extra noise?

Doubled my mileage in the car today with a 180 mile round trip to the Pistonheads Sunday Service at the British Motor Museum.

Was great to see some other cars in the metal and finally get a few dry(ish) miles in! It's dirty now too, so may as well get used all week for work! 😁

I had the stereo off, yet to disable the sound but its on my list as its too fake in sport mode

I drove my car hard today, properly.... at night. Ragged it around some B roads, and it was amazing. I am actually in love with this car now...

I was a bit undecided... but no. Colour me a fan boi now. This is also whilst still in break in period so i kept it 4k (mostly,, hit 6k a few times.... but shhh)
Yeah absolutely fantastic, really brought a smile to my face. The more you drive this car the better it gets, it's also because you get use to how this clutch works.... it is slightly different beast than what I have been use to.

Can't wait to get 1k miles and start hitting it very hard... I think it's going to be very smile inducing.

Also... I've had every single GT86 since 2012, including auto and club series blue with performance pack.... this blows it out of the water. And yeah... manual is the one you want.
Brilliant brilliant car.

Billetzworkz gear knob is simply gold. (check below for more info)

Negative of this car:

TOTALLY, soundless... actual joke, what were they thinking with these two great big exhausts (bigger than the 86 mm bore of the old car) and completely dead.

I can't wait for my AWE Performance Touring to come... an exhaust is a 100% must on this car. Feels totally wrong to be this silent. Noise generator kicks in about 4k rpm.... and to be honest I thought I'd instantly want to remove it. But if I do, I think I'd cry... it would be totally dead.

I'll wait for exhaust to come and then disconnect the generator wire until then it stays. Also, as sound generators go this is the best one I've ever heard.... it's really not as bad as what all the youtube knee jerk reactions would have you believe.

I agree with this. The generator isn't too bad but would like to hear the car as that's a big part of the experience and helps with interacting with the car. Interested to see what the AWE turns out like. I know some are thinking of getting axle backs and while it would give noise, easy install and a bit of a weight saving I'm not totally convinced yet. Plus I don't want to introduce drone.

Been quiet here and still will be for a bit. Few updates

Ceramic coat and PPF on most of it.

Hit the 1000 miles run in. It's so good! I'll expand on this later

Within a week with the roads as they are it's minging in seconds. Did do a contactless snowfoam and hose down but then went up the Blacks and it was minging again. Some interesting aero and the wheels really suck dirt in.

If you drive "normally", and are quite smooth and relaxed with the clutch, that's when it feels hardest to drive. Bring it up slowly to feather the power in is where you get caught out by the clutch spring suddenly pushing it back at the top of the travel and making you jerky. But I've found that if I drive harder and deliberately bring the clutch up more quickly, then it tends to be a smoother shift.

I am guessing there is a clutch delay valve, or rev hang, or something which is actually making slower, more deliberate clutch use a bit finicky. Can't quite put my finger on it. I am pretty sure I will change the clutch pedal spring when I get a chance though as that should help. But yeah, I found the same as you - it feels much more natural when you drive it harder.
