GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Got mine back from the detailer for its full ceramic coating on Thursday but just got the photos through now

So today... I fitted a Phone mount and cabling... this is universal and will work for anyone. Cost ~ £38 - Which to me is a very fair price.

Requirements:
Magnetic - cable holder - Amazon product ASIN B01DSOU94QCable clips - Amazon product ASIN B09XV34HT9Universal magnetic car mount - Amazon product ASIN B0B9MY1CVDCable - 6ft - Amazon product ASIN B078NR6ZK3
Obviously change the cable to a USB C if you're android.
What I will say is this is the best phone mount I have ever used. I use an Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max. This is a heavy heavy phone. Mine is 0.3 kg with the case. This mount holds it so sturdy. It's actually amazing. The amount of force I need to RIP off the phone from the mount, when mounted in the car, is actually insane.

I doubt your phones are as heavy... this is the heaviest chunky boi phone I have ever had. (side note, this is because the battery is huge, it's so good. Never have to charge it!)
Please see my pictures below. I am very happy with how this has turned out. I hope you guys like it. The magnetic cable allows me to store the cable in a "out of sight" position, and when connected to the phone it simple detaches from the magnetic base and plugs into the phone.
Cables are all routed out of sight of driver side, and minimally invasive to passenger side. a 6ft cable is required, you will not have enough length otherwise.

I took the opportunity to give the car a good look over in natural light after last weeks nightmare.

Not a good weekend for me.

Weather was great so went out for my first proper drive after having the PPF and ceramic coating done. With a grand total off 77miles on the clock someone rear ended me in stop start traffic. Fortunately damage is very minor but I cannot bloody believe it, unreal then the fool that done it proceeds to rub down my rear bumper suggesting it's all ok, get your bloody hands off it what are you doing!?! Paintwork has come off unscathed with the exception of one tiny mark but I need a new towing eye cover. Livid
Miraculously I seem to have got away with the best of a bad situation. A spec of paint damage smaller than the dimples in the bumper, touch up pen will sort that and a replacement tow eye cover. The bumper stay has taken a whack, I will pick off the flaking paint and respray that. I am really surprised there is nothing more.

Replaced my reverse light bulbs with LEDs like all the other cool kids are doing at the minute.

A little tip with those clips, don't pull the tab all the way out, they pop out very easily this way.

Fitted my Mishimoto oil filler cap I had on my other car.

And some photos of the JDM rubber mats fitted.

F**k that. You sure that you don't want to inform your insurance company and get it checked out? Although it looks like very minor damage, you are not in the wrong and if you have any concerns, please go through the normal channels to get things sorted via insurance.

@ZN8 Not wanting to alarm you but the way that paint has flaked off on the steel cross member looks like the steel may have been bent, it would be worth running it down to your dealer to ask them to put it on a ramp and check everything is ok.

Came here to say the same. It kind of looks like that bar may have been bent in by the impact....but bumper plastic has returned to shape so it's not obvious.
How hard was the bump @ZN8? mI know it's hassle, but I think it might be best to involve insurance if it turns out to be worse than it looks.

What did I do with my GR86 today?

Well, after a couple of days of good use, and having seen some glorious pictures of wonderfully shiny detailed ceramic-ed '86s on this fine site, I seriously contemplated giving my frankly quite mucky car a good clean and tidy up.

However looking out of the window I saw Cold Weather

So I decided to have a nice warming beverage and a good read, perhaps a catch-up with this month's unexpectedly excellent EVO magazine.

Stay warm and stay safe comrades!

Looking good 😎 Did they find much wrong , if anything, with the paint 🤔
There’s a small scratch on the drivers side sill under the door so looks probably caused from getting in and out of the car. I’m planning on having this high traffic area PPF’d. Another thing to note for anyone getting the same electric blue colour, my detailer said the following:

“I’ve dealt with some soft paints in my time but this is the softest paint I’ve ever seen”

Whilst we're on paint... I got mine cleaned and next to eachother finally. When is Pearl White not Pearl White?!

I knew it was notoriously difficult to paint match but pretty sure these are supposed to be the same paint code?

Fair shout, Subaru K1X / Toyota K1X ...fingers crossed I never need paint on either I think! :ROFLMAO:

Kicked the back out a little on a damp roundabout (all the aids still turned on). First time in the new car. Feels like it should be easier in this one; always found the GT86 never really had the oomph to unstick the rear without a lot of commitment.

Did that in an empty frosty Tesco car park earlier - the OH wasn't expecting it which was even better :ROFLMAO:

Yes it has

Stunning! it's a shame you've got to dry it straight into January 😄

Hmmm, I think I might take off the bumper and have a look now... As with anything, the insurance side of things is never simple. The underwriters will only use their approved repairers to carry out a repair and inspection, in this case it's enterprise (yeah the car hire company enterprise) I'm not comfortable with that. I asked about an independent inspection but it's not something they would entertain. They will however, carry out any repairs if anything was found which is good, so I'm inclined to do that. Currently they have this down as notification as opposed to a claim. Unfortunately non fault claims/notifications still bump up your premium.

Anyway one for another thread. The saga continues.

Put another 150 running in miles on it and it’s now very dirty. This week is new car detail and ceramic coating which should hopefully keep it nice and make it a doddle to wash.

Also fitted Cusco pedal extension and LED reverse bulbs. Still getting the hang of heal and toe in this thing but the pedal definitely helps.
