GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Totally!! My enjoyment currently comes from walking in to the garage, seeing it there and remembering I still have it! All the fun back roads are flooded round here and even snow on the forecast next week 🤦‍♂️

Today I'm taking delivery of a CTEK kit so I can put a more permanent charging solution in place... Exciting (n)

I can relate to what you say. In winter my enjoyment also comes from walking into the garage to see the car which I can do without leaving the house.

The car is also permanently connected to a Jaguar battery conditioner (made by CTEK).

How are you guys breaking your cars in?
I've kept it below 4k except for when the engine was hot, took it up to about 6k rpm. I don't think its healthy not to bring up to revs... I'm talking a few times a drive, you should be getting it higher than 4k. I think its more important just to vary RPM's.
I might even start red lining it, once a drive once I'm into 200+ miles.... I don't think its right to baby the engine completely.

I've kept below 4-4.5k for most of the time (relying on the surprisingly potent low/mid range oomph), but I've ventured up to 6k or so a couple of times when warm.

This has been when I haven't had my Self Appointed Rev/Speed/Fun Limiter in the passenger seat

Beautiful car, beautiful colour, love the wheels too. Have always been a fan of the 240Z. Thanks for sharing the photograph.

Wish it was parked in my double garage next to my F Type 😍
You are welcome! F type and GR86 has modern classics all over it. That is a fab two car garage! Also, I think the F Type and the Z are quite similar many ways albeit created 40 years apart.

It's been a good first week with the 240Z. Thankfully it's been dry around London so have been able to take it out a few times. It's a little bit eye catching though.....

Fitted the LED interior and reversing lights.
Put a shorter USB cable in that doesn't get stuck in the armrest.
Topped up the screenwash.
Took a photo of the engine.

Man! This electric blue is growing on me with each passing day. Wondering if I should have gone for it over Magnetite Grey (was split across the two while ordering) - still not seen one in person so keeping fingers crossed.

To be fair...

I had the GT86 version of this blue and I always was never quite sure...

Some days I loved it, somedays I didn't.
It's an interesting colour to be fair... sometimes it was fun because it was different, but it eventually is a bit too much. It says a bit too much about you, it's an attention seeking colour in my opinion.

I think Silver is actually the best colour for our cars... looks subtle, stylish and not obnoxious.

I went white... and I'm 90% happy. I wish I'd gone silver tbh...

To be fair, long term. I'm going to wrap this car british racing green anyway... I've always wanted a green car! That said, I would have kept silver...

Here's a pic of my old GT86 (maxton front splitter, wrapped roof, tinted windows, spoiler extension, custom Toyota badges).

Oh my god! I love this car. I did a 300 mile round trip from Dorset to Northampton and back again today. 15 hour day, including work.🙄

But due to the type of car that it is, it was non-stop both ways and I still felt fresh. Not too hyperactive, to make me feel tired and not too refined to make me fall asleep. 😴

What a car. It was semi-dry on the way up and dry on the way back. Just taking it easy as up to about 400 miles now, but it's such a 'momentum car'. Approaching bends, or roundabouts, it just flows. This car is really good for the soul / my mental health. 🤣🤣🤣
I’ll be the only owner in Weymouth, when it turns up. Where are you, we might have to have a game of cat and mouse on some of our lovely Dorset B roads 👍

Not a good weekend for me.

Weather was great so went out for my first proper drive after having the PPF and ceramic coating done. With a grand total off 77miles on the clock someone rear ended me in stop start traffic. Fortunately damage is very minor but I cannot bloody believe it, unreal then the fool that done it proceeds to rub down my rear bumper suggesting it's all ok, get your bloody hands off it what are you doing!?! Paintwork has come off unscathed with the exception of one tiny mark but I need a new towing eye cover. Livid

Last wash before the car is dropped off for full front and side skirts PPF install tomorrow.

What I thought before was stone chips on the front bumper turned out to be just dried out salt and some other road debris that came off with some tar remover and clay bar. Considering it's done 600 miles in bad weather, it's in a better than expected condition.

Annoying! Did you get their details anyway, might look ok, but might be some hidden damage or pushed the exhaust back etc.

That must be gut-wrenching, I'm fuming for you. Did you have PPF on the rear bumper as well?

Yeah I got full details. Not taking anything for granted, my immediate worry was the exhaust too. Going to have a proper look later in the week when I'm off work.

No PPF on the rear, I thought it's one area that would never need protecting

That's infuriating. I hope it gets sorted out with the absolute minimal expense, inconvenience and frustration.

PS and may the cretin responsible have their intimate areas infested with a thousand angry fleas
