GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Made the most of the sunshine and milder temps and went for an early morning run. Lovely day for a scenic drive. πŸ™‚

3rd annual service on the service plan - alleviated the waiting anxiety by taking a Land Cruiser for a test drive. 🀠
GR86 came back all good - air and pollen filters changed; no wash and no road test. :)
Now garaged and sorn'd for the salty season. ❄️

Another one for the dead battery club - that's 3 in the last few weeks!
Popped to Halfords to get a NOCO Boost Plus which got her going again. The only downside is it's wiped everything from the on board computer (average MPG, G Meter data etc). I'll need to give her a good thrashing round the B roads next summer!

If your car is left outside, esp in Scotland, for any length of time during the colder months the battery will drop quicker, if it goes completely flat you risk damaging it permanently, with the amount of electronics on board cars these days it can cause further issues to arise. CTEK chargers are the way to go, or drive the car more regularly.

I've managed to avoid this issue so far. My GR86 lives on a 'Noco Genius 10' trickle charger year round, even in the hot Summer. I installed an uprated battery prior to it going into storage last Winter, but also bought a 'Noco Boost X GBX45' Jump Starter/Power Pack (up to 6.5L Petrol/4.0L Diesel engines) just in case the 86 didn't start after 6 months of sitting. I never needed the booster pack, so I guess it'll stay in the garage for when we get a 'Dark Sky' event ...

I had a strange one after changing my battery and I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience. I had 70-odd miles on the dash indicator of how many miles were left in the tank after battery change. After I refilled, the reading became 240 miles - but the tank was full and should have been in the 310-340 range. It was evident that the sensor had ignored the couple of gallons already in the tank, although the vertical bar display indicated that I had indeed got a full tank. I've filled up twice since then and the mileage 'predictor' has continued to underestimate, while counting down the miles as it should.

Any explanation for this? I haven't had the courage yet to take it down to zero to see what happens, but will try it this time as I'll be close to home for a while now.
