GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Had my windscreen replaced, now have an intermittent eyesight fault, not sure if it needs calibration or they’ve put the non eyesight screen in, don’t think it looks right but can’t find a photo where i can see the old one properly 🤦🏻‍♂️

Car is in for a major service today. Sat in the sun when I get a call saying my brakes have seized! Going to see if they can get it running again so I can take it home and bring it back later this week to have pads and discs replaced. I knew the pads would need done in the next wee while but never expected them to need a mallet to get the calipers off. How long til payday? 😔

Today saw more SFOM Show preparations! Having already completed the engine bay and stripped the tyres back to bare rubber (using Carpro Retyre) on Monday and valeted the interior on Tuesday, this time it was a 3 bucket maintenance decontamination, including Citrus pre-wash, full body de-Tar and Iron removal. Car was covered o/c and am currently waiting for the sun to drop so that I can apply 'P&S Bead Maker' and let it cure under its cover overnight. Tomorrow I'll probably get the tyres coated with 'Carpro Darkside' and buff up the alloys, which leaves Friday for a further glossing with 'P&S Dream Maker' before dropping the car off at the showground on Saturday afternoon ready for Sunday's event. Honestly, this will probably be the last time I put so much effort into preparing for a car show - it's exhausting!
Update: That’ll do until Saturday Morning after drop-off. Super schlickkk.

I'm hoping tomorrow will be warm but overcast as my car is in need of a good clean and maybe a coat of Soft99 paste wax

Seized how? Stuck pistons?

Turns out it was the right rear pads stuck to the disc. Strange as I've never felt there was any dragging and had no issues at the MOT in January. Had the pad filed down and booked in again tomorrow to have all my pads and discs done.
I had the same problem with my old GT86. I took it to a mechanic friend and he dismantled each brake, cleaned the components and greased as appropriate. The pads and discs were fine. He remarked that this usually happened because dealer servicing rarely did brake maintenance of this nature. So far, the GR has been fine, but I'm taking it to him for similar work after its first MOT in September.

I had some rubbing on mine for quite some time, I assumed it was just sticky or stuck pistons.

Fitted some new pads and when I pushed back the pistons it hasn't done it since.

It doesn't get used that much so assumed it was like a mountain bike where brake pistons get dry and don't operate well, or at all.

Fitted some Suma heated side mirrors. I tried to be as careful as possible but one of the connectors on one OEM mirror had a dab of glue... Ripped the connector mirror side. A minor problem to deal with if I return it to stock. The extra angle is nice but the main benefit is the anti-glare when driving at night.

The left rear fender on the wheel arch has started to come loose. It looks, at a glance, it's held on with adhesive tape. I'm due a trip to the body shop soon before getting a full paint correction and ceramic wax so I'll note that on the list of little jobs to do.

Fresh pads and discs on all four corners.

Will be looking at getting the calipers painted at some point (they've been stained since the MOT in January). Thinking red because just as red cars go faster, everyone knows red brakes stop better!

Had to take the car on a wee drive to test them of course.

Weather started off overcast, fixed a problem with Starlink and by the time I'd filled buckets etc. the sun had started to come out. Panel at a time before rinsing - luckily we have very soft water here so water spots are not a real problem. Tried a new Turtle Wax product I got sent

but no idea how good it is until it rains, so could be weeks, but the paint feels slick!

Still need to dress the tyres, but I can finish that tomorrow, I have a birthday beer to drink <hic>
