GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Now the summer (ish) weather appears to be upon us, I have carried out my interior lightening modifications by removing the integrated suit hanging solution

Cos hopefully this good weather will continue and consequently it will be a case of

@Sonic I assume yours is still in place, what with it being generally chillier North of the Wall.

Just fitted a new set of wipers, the original ones had developed a weird dead zone on the driver aside which meant I was getting streaks right in my eye line.

Weird fact....the drivers side blade is smaller (20") than the passenger side blade (22"), at least on my car. Never seen that before. Perhaps mine were fitted wrong at the factory? Might swap them around later l, assuming it doesn't cause them to foul each other.

Not unusual for cars to have different size wipers. Rather than swapping them around, try stopping the car with the wipers vertical and you should see that 22” would be too long for the drivers side.

Yeah I know it's common for them to be different sizes....but the drivers one is almost always the longer of the two. I'll have a look later.

Edit: out of curiosity I went and swapped the blades around, and actually it does seem to be by design that the passenger blade is longer. It seems the windscreen is quite shallow, so putting the longer blade on the drivers side just means it sweeps up into the black area at the top of the screen, so you don't gain much. How odd. Now, I'd better go and sit down after all this....not since fitting the boot pull down strap have I been so overwhelmed by excitement.

I’ve just measured mine which are as they came from the factory. Off Side (Driver) is 22”. Near Side (Passenger) is 20”.

Well now I'm going to HAVE to swap them, so I can be in with the cool kids

Thking about it, the passenger side wiper has always had a bit of trouble keeping contact with the far edge of the windscreen - I guess that explains it, it's not meant to be swiping that far over wher ethe glass curves away too steeply.

Dropped mine off at the local toyota dealership with a throttle position sensor error.

Went to start it yesterday morning and got a check engine light, and it wouldn't rev past 2k rpm. Checked with my cheap bluetooth OBD reader and the code was P2135 (Throttle position or Accelerator pedal position sensor A/B volatage correlation), throttle position reading didn't move from 16%, and sure enough when I press the accelerator I get the lovely smell of petrol and not much else.

Hoping they cover it under warranty!

I've not heard of this before. I'm sure it will be covered under warranty. Keep us updated.

More exciting stuff from me. Filled up the car Sunday night and reset the economy gauge, to see how it did on its first week being pressed back into commuting duties. Just filled up again after 3 days and about 200 miles (perhaps 85% motorway)...35.7MPG on the dash, 34.6MPG when calculating manually. Not brilliant, but not crippling.

I’d say that’s pretty good. I currently average 30mpg from mine, although not commuting.

My 1.1 Rover 25 shed that I use as a station car averages 43mpg, so I’d say you’re doing well!
