GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I'm sure many of us have had wing mirror spiders, and let's not forget @robster 's bumblebee, but today I encountered another wildlife form which had made a home of my car.

Whilst hosing down before washing I spotted something stuck in the bottom left of the front grille.

A gentle poke and it fell out. Was it alive?

IMG_20230729_175331987.webp

I placed it very gently in a more snail-friendly area nearby.

It didn't show any signs of life for a few minutes, but then:

And off it crawled.

It's a good job it didn't crawl into a spot on my rather unobservant neighbour's Audi TT 'S'; he's likely to have driven off at speed without noticing.

Then all the other snails would have had to watch their friend zoom off down the road attached to the TT 'S', and they would have gasped...

*Look at that 'S'-car go..."

Lowered my tyre pressures a tad to 32psi today, as a bit of an experiment. Feels like it might be a little more compliant and neutralise the understeer a little. Still need to get my alignment sorted properly at some point though.

Also just got back from my usual Sunday morning drive. But it was a bit of a misfire tbh. Caught behind too many old dears who have decided to get up nice and early to take a slow trundle along some of the nicest roads in Kent. Found that a couple of my favourite stretches of road have had that bloody awful tar and chip surface treatment applied meaning I had to slow to a crawl to avoid lacerating the paintwork. And finally, most of my route heads east, and the sun was low enough to be right in my eyes most of the time. Which then annoyed me because it made me realise my windscreen is filthy. Got home feeling all irritable.

Bluergh. Might wash the car later to cheer myself up. Then I bet it will rain.

Fancied an early morning blast. My eldest spotted me leaving and asked if we could "go the car café?"

Absolutely! Got there for just after 8, coffee, shared a Mars bar (daughter's choice!), looked at a few nice cars and back home by 9.30 before any traffic got bad anywhere.

I am at 32psi as well and I feel it is more compliant. Even though roads here are awful the ride is acceptable at this PSI. 34psi as delivered was not great.
95% of the time I am alone in the car so no need for me to worry about load capabilities.

Just took a look at the link, that 4C is immense.

Not done too much with it since I've had a bad bout of tendonitis in my left foot. Washed it again after having a mare of a commute home. Took me over 2hrs to do 9 miles, despite trying all the local lanes to save time. Came back looking like it got off a rally stage. Cleaned and put away as I want to make the most of the bike in-between the showers. Plus its easier negotiating traffic.

Also got these after a recommendation. Nylon sockets to not mark the alloys. Bought on a whim but a lovely set.

Thanks for the link but I can't seem to find the location of this place, which looks awesome. Help!

Your good deed for the day supporting nature 👏

It reminds me of an incident last year driving through Lindal on A590 and I noticed a hedgehog in the middle of the road. I stopped the car, put the hazard warning lights on then basically stopped all traffic in both directions. I got a pair of gardening gloves from the boot of the car (I had purchased them the day before) picked up the hedgehog and placed it in an adjoining field. Upon returning to my car I was greeted to clapping from the car owners who had stopped. That was my good deed supporting nature that day 😄

Went to the Goodwood Breakfast Club with my wife and 9 year old son, first time with more than two people in the car - she was surprised at the lack of room and son asked why the car was so noisy!

Also saw this one there, wife said I should have gone for the blue 😂.

Popped into the local kart track on the way back, thought this was relevant to us 86’ers.

I'd have chosen the light blue all day long if it was available for batch #2
