GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Let a relative who is a car guy drive my GR - another GR virginity lost.
He liked the car and engine but what a hard use of clutch and steering inputs. Now after seeing that I don't wonder how clutches are not lasting in these cars. But maybe auto is then good option in lineup.

It always amazes me how rough and mechanically unsympathetic some people are. Worth bearing in mind when you hear stories of how some cars have a reputation for eating gearboxes etc., it’s usually just that cohort.

I remember there was one guy on the MLR who seemed to have had major mechanical problems with every car he’d owned - clutches, synchros, oil leaks, top-end rebuilds etc. and he was always battling with dealers, distributors, and tuners to get things fixed if they refused warranty claims.

When someone I know finally saw him drive he was like “Ahhh, now I get it”. The guy was just a car abuser. To read his posts you’d think he was someone who knew what they were doing, but no. Just a t**t 😂

washed the car and had meanwhile a long GR conversion with neighbour. He seems to understand the point of it and maybe as now mk2 has arrived and model has gotten more publicity it seems to be better known atm compared to 3 years ago.

Also put the drifting valinos in car. fun to see how it goes.

Designed, 3D printed and mounted a Holder for a Gopro to
view/record my Rides in POV Mode not only recorded with the Dash Cam.

Managed 320km of b road action in first 24 hours of ownership to the south of Estonia for a weekend break avoiding highways. This thing is so gripped and quick even on run-in pace. Road noise inside cabin was way louder at speed than the bmw it replaced but it’s all part of the package.

I can't say I am 100% used to the clutch. It is annoyingly high for me.
Really used to having the clutch pedal really low, but now it seems a trend in newer cars (for some reason that I don't understand) to have them high...

My brother in law, or near enough anyway, is here tomorrow. My girlfriend told him I'd bought a Yaris, not really knowing any better, and I don't think he's appreciated what it is just yet.

That'll be a fun drive in the next few days. But I expect the jig will be up the second he sees it in the driveway

I offered to take wife's friend husband for a few laps on a sprint weekend but he cancelled at the last minute. I had a successful day and sent him a pic of the trophy. He texted back they gave you the wrong trophy. I thought he was having a dig that I won the class. Nope, he saw awd and said but yaris's are fwd... He came along for the next round and couldnt believe how well the car stuck to the road.

Fitted Focal component kit up front and the coax kit in the rear. Finally Dynamatted the rear arches, quarters, and floor while the seats were out, and the difference is unbelievable.

Speakers sound fantastic considering it’s a straight swap with no amp. Road noise reduction is huge, exhaust sounds even better inside the car now too. Happy (Easter) bunny here.

Got summers fitted (dat turn-in 🥰) and had a chat with a guy (don’t think he’s on here) who is just about to take delivery of his new GR. He bought a secondhand one to time him over the two year 😱 wait.

The garage asked him if he wanted to swap for the mk2 but while he was mulling it over, the entire 280 allocation for Belgium and Luxembourg went in 90 minutes!

Does the film match the roof pattern? Where did you get it? Did you make it yourself or have it made? Price?
Got it done by Foliendienst in Sissach. They were recommended to me. They were a bit higher than others pricewise, but I can recommend. Several patterns available, so you can choose what fits best for you.

Today's little win. I am completely useless with tech but desperately wanted better temperature displays when warming up. I now have coolant, oil and transmission temperatures! This is totally customisable from any data that the Torque Pro app can extract from the car. And all for less than £10! (Torque Pro app and cheap eBay obd dongle)

Details please? - Do I need to have something hooked up to the OBD the entire time?

Also, is there a way to customize the way the gauges look?
