GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Looks ace - love the Monte sticker on the back (if that's what it is?) @DE-GR4

Well spotted!

Yeah its the Monte studded tyres sticker, with black tape across it to indicate no studs are fitted

Nice. Did a pitstop wheel change to studded myself.

Only good when actual snow on the ground, otherwise they get blunt and keeps one from sliding fun when the (profusely salted) asphalt shows....

removed the polyethyne protector sheets from the rear control arms as they are not needed in snow.
Should realign the front bumper - maybe on ski holiday that is in few weeks.

I had to take my car for it's speed awareness training today. Having completed the training apparently it's my fault and not the cars. Having studied the evidence, that's totally wrong. At my young age of 57, I've owned many cars and had a clean licence for over 30 years. I purchase this car, then all of a sudden the police has more pictures of my car than I do. I rest my case MEE LORD.

Really wished I had it instead of a Renault Traffic for cross country trip of Ukraine. FWD van gave me more scares than I want to remember. Made worse by the fact I know my GRY would have loved the journey. 2 days until I get my hands back on her.

Picked mine back up from the bmw dealer, said no thanks to the m2, but will take up the offer of they’re next m3 demo, an xdrive
Jumping back in the Yaris it felt like I was sitting on the roof with the high seat, 5 mins later tho you realise how much better your vision is than sat on the floor

Yeah they take things pretty seriously over there. Loads of videos of cars around the ring being pulled for stretched tires, exhausts.
There is this stereotype that Germans love rules and hate fun and oh boy in this case we have really made good on that.
The main idea behind it isn't even bad by making sure that everything on the streets is safe but the execution of it is trash.

But oh well enough whining about that. I have recently ordered some wheels and they hopefully arrive soon so I can contribute something here :)

Can't say I disagree, without rules some people really don't know where to stop....

.... and it's not like they keep it to their own bedroom, they drive these things on public roads together with our OG legacy homologation prince 👑 the one and only GR Yaris, imagine they hit it 😤🤬🤔☝️⌚🙃 and what about our ears...

Drove to dentist. waited in traffic lights with new Prius - looked nice - new hybrid with little sporty flavor.
Yaris seems to win every traffic light start by 50m even not trying so it makes it great commuter car.
Many cars struggle to get moving or turned in snow. GR doesn't even blink an eye.

There was some snow at commute time here yesterday, and on a very steep back road to my work there were multiple cars of all kinds stranded on the hill, despite winter tyres being mandatory here.

I just cruised up past them and even did a nice little drift as I rounded the corner at the top of the hill :D

Love that, do that too. And I give tailgaiters a little wiggle too, they back off very quickly most of the time.... (yeah it blows my mind too that some people seriously think it's a good idea to tailgate on snow/ice roads...)

Had a blast on my morning commute today. Took the long way to work for some slippery b-road action!

I’ve been back and forth about the Mk2 and all, but damn what a special car this is. An upgrade is always enticing, but this car is already far more capable than I am. So I’m putting the Mk2 to rest and sticking with the old gall.

The car scene in Japan is bizarre. So many cars slammed so low they cannot get in and out of the places they are being shown. Steel plates and plywood everywhere to make the gentlest of ramps. 30deg camber etc. Weird.

Yeah, some of these are insane. But the fringes always are, some of the most tastefully done bits do make their way into vehicles.

The other day I learned about nurburgring exhausts. Apparently all the noise detectors are on the same side, so some cars are fitted with exhausts that angle the tips towards the other side of the track. Can't imagine though are TUV approved though

Eh. Im a fan of tuning culture in general. Making a car truly your own is something to be celebrated. For normal people cars are an appliance but for us petrol heads it's a passion and a hobby. Everybody should be able to express themselves how they see fit as long as you don't endanger or inconvenience other people with it and I would say every tuning culture as their own little quirks. Like for example the US car fans who love big power so much they make their cars basically useless with it.
