GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I’ve done it a couple of times, for erm…science 🤓 but I don’t like to do it from a standstill as I’m too mechanically sympathetic.

Having said that, I was speaking to a guy at the Nürburgring who says he has done hundreds on his original clutch, so *shrug*

I find it a hard car to launch well. Mine has done a few hundred, no side stepped clutch but anything from 4-6k with rapid clutch engagement for sprint starts. Slip it due to driver error and there is an obnoxious effluvium in the circumambient atmosphere...

If you are not already doing it, try to drive in expert mode. The clutch feel changes with it. For me it feels much better.
My starting routine is always, track mode -> expert mode -> start stop off -> lane assist off. Sometimes i do it too fast and the mode wont switch to expert, i will instantly feel it in clutch behavior.

thanks for the tip :-) But what do you mean by "clutch behavior"? Cheers

If you put the TC in expert mode the soft limiter is disabled.
Thanks (y)
I'll try Expert mode at Sundays AutoX. I'm not talking about dumping the clutch at 4,5k. All i want is to be able to keep the rpm steady, instead of dabbing the gas during the time it takes for the starting lights to go off.

Same routine here. Starting a modern car is getting closer and closer to taking off in Microsoft Flight Simulator...

Drove over Jezersko mountain pass from Slovenia to Austria and back. There's a twisty road with lots of elevation change leading to the pass that the Yaris just loved–so much confidence in braking late and cornering at ridiculous speeds. The feel of rotation under braking going downhill it's something I haven't expericent in this way before and the brakes handled heat phenomenal.
Oil temps got close to ~130 C but I think I can get away with that, for now :)

Did a bit of a drive at lunch to pick up a few bits and came across this beauty. Twenty years old, about 45 grand on the clock

edit: Had it twenty years I suppose, that car must be 30 years old

It’s very easy to just forget how capable the car is and even start to find it a bit boring. Then you have that one drive where the roads are interesting and the conditions not ideal (ideal for the GRY) and it reminds you how special it is. It demands that you up your game and meet it at a slightly higher plane than you find comfortable. It’s for that reason that I’m never selling it.

I'm just waiting for a break in the weather so I can give the car a good wash, It deserves one as this little thing has given me so much joy and fun over the week.

I had that very drive yesterday! Horrendous conditions back from Goodwood but oh my, it was good! Crazy grip and traction, and no Issues getting out of the car park!

An amazing group of people put their heads together, their passion, knowledge and experience has given us this superb car.

Fitted a DNA seat kit today and can't believe the difference it makes. On paper it seems like it would not be a big drop but the reality is that it feels so much lower and strangely can now also get more comfortable as the wheel feels better positioned on the adjustment I use.

I can't see/feel no difference with Sport or Track and "Expert mode". Isn't "Expert mode" when "Expert" is lighted on the top/middle?

I didn't see/feel any difference at all.
Thanks

I tried Expert mode in Sport and Track at todays event on an airfield but no difference in any way ....but I was fastest of the 15 entrants 🔥

It definitely boosts better in expert. Launching it almost bogs down but expert stops this. I seem to recall someone on here logged it and it does change the way the engine behaves.

Isn't that just traction control stepping in?
