GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

These arrived today after a long time in a sorting office somewhere. Looking forwards to seeing what my car looks like as I’ve had MFF mudflaps on from the first week I’ve owned the car. Love that they match the roof wrap.

So after going through box with OEM parts, I've noticed something on the turbo piping, what could cause it? Removal for Forge one, or was that heat?
Also, after wiping the turbo inlet part, this is what my hanky looked like, do I need to install a catchcan (got Airtec one laying around)?

@Helmut Eder Scoop installed, but as it raining cats and dogs, I didn't check did they block the flap hose.
On the way home, I've noticed a major boost drop after 4krpm and the car was down on power.
At home realized the vacuum hose was free, maybe that was the issue. Blocked it now, but CBA going for a test drive now, maybe later in the evening.
I do love the Hel's scoop look

Took my car for it's 6 month safety check, great service by Steven Eagell Letchworth. They even gave it a quick wash and hoover. Yes I let them wash it as it was filthy and covered in salt.

- Isn't that a factory indentation? Manufacturers make these to keep clearances and perhaps create some flow effect for the connecting hose of...
- That's very little oil from the crankcase ventilation, looks fine to me
- When you forget to connect the vacuum hose this means the vacuum actuated boost regulator aka wastegate doesn't work properly. Issue should be solved now.

- I don't know if it's a factory indent, does not look "uniform" enough, can't find a OEM photo anywhere 17311-18010 only part drawing

- Yes, the problem with the hose is fixed, just blocked it as @Helmut Eder suggested in his video (y)

Yup, it's essential to close the Vacuum Hose so the ECU thinks the "Flap" is open!

Spring theory spacers, Eibach Pro kit lowering springs, full Geo set up.. oh and finally ordered some Recaro CS Sportsters 😁 can’t wait for these to arrive….
Have the Recaros arrived yet? I was looking at seat lowering kits for the passenger side and then thought why not swap both seats out for Recaro CSs? Do they give you the lowering that is needed? Where have your ordered them from please?

Hi Mate
Not yet as on back order, I ended ordering from Capital seating as they were fair on pricing and offered me a trade discount and they will supply all frames etc I need. I’ve gone for no airbag, heated seats, and have ordered the resistors to knock the light off. Hoping they arrive early Jan23 as told🤞

Thanks for the update. I would love to know how you find them (and any fitting issues) when they do eventually arrive.

Car went in for its second service, I supplied my own oil, last service 12 months ago was told oil was £82 + Vat.
went to pay and said as I supplied my own oil they would take £15 off the bill as that’s how much oil costs. I explained that it should be £100 cheaper and they went away.
came back 2 minutes later saying sorry didn’t know the grade of oil used and std oil is only £15 for 4.3 litres.
bill was a more reasonable £350. Does seem a lot for and oil and interior pollen filter (24k or 2yrs) !

Can I ask what was the oil you supplied

I believe that the UK Toyota network have harmonised service prices across the (true) GR range. Of course, they did that by increasing prices to match any higher ones. So, now the GR Yaris service should cost the same as the GR Supra service. That means that the prices have gone from the initial £165 and £300 to £300 and £450 respecticely. Safety check cost also jumped from £50 to £75.

For clarity, I'm not aware of a 24k / 2-year service. I believe you mean either:
  • 24k miles / 4-year
  • 12k miles / 2-year

Got annoyed with it. It seemingly decided it didn't want to keep any electricity in it, girlfriend having to come over so I can jump it, after I got it started after using a battery charger. Was 13.7v last night but for some reason when I connected the charger it was down to 12v
