GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

In big slides, the car's direction of travel is much easier to control in Track then in Sport, where the rear wants to overtake the front in whatever unpredictable direction it feels like ;)
(less steering corrections needed in track)

Stole it back from my Dad after a couple of weeks in his RAV4 (with heated seats 😍).

Macclesfield seemed like a necessary place to go for a Sunday roast. Really doubt there was anywhere closer we could have gone…

Crossclimates come into their own in these sorts of conditions.

Had a great day at the Piston Heads Sunday Service Car Meet yesterday at Thruxton. Conditions were perfect for the GR despite the freezing conditions and my screen wiper wash being completely frozen for the duration of the drive across to Thruxton 😵‍💫.

Eight of us drove down, of which four of us were in GR's (picture below thanks to my friend Rob).

We parked up randomly next to three other GR's one of which was owned by Dave and I saw at least another three parked separately along the rows of car's, one was GR11 LAP.

There was a good turn out of cars & super cars as well as a few classic's too.

We'd booked in to do the skid pan at 11:30am which was great fun given it was completely iced up. Adam C also made an appearance. Not sure if any of us will be in his next video but he did take a keen interest in a Mercedez CLK AMG Black Edition which had a lot of difficulty getting around the roundabout on the skid pan.

Really good day out. Car felt solid despite frozen conditions and tyres getting low on tread...

Got back to leafy Surrey just as the first snow started falling.

I’m guessing they didn’t notice/care
They didn’t say anything but my guess is they wouldn’t until I need warranty work and there’s a big black x against my car 🤣🤣

I’m starting my upgrades in February so I’ll have no warranty then anyway, the cars seem pretty good so far

It's unlikely the people doing the servicing are aware, or even care about what's standard or not on the car.

So unless there was a problem related to a warranty part, it won't matter.

The day had come - the long awaited service scheduled on 14th Dec!

Just as I started driving on the motorway to the Toyota dealer, car warmed up and a nasty smell began to fill the cabin.
Ofc, I stepped into a dogsh*t before entered the car...
Oh the horror!
Pulled over and cleaned all I could with a big pack of sanitary hankies. Left the rubber mat (random one I had from some older car) in the trash bin.

Drove into the street where Toyota dealer is, the clock ticked 10000km!
Gonna be a big service:
- All the fluids and filters changed, car checked in detail
- Lanoguard apply
- TRD side visor installation
- Intercooler waterspray should be completed, was missing one wire
- Hel's scoop installation
- Powerflex insters (upper engine mount insert black, upper gearbox mount insert yellow
- Forge turbo inlet installation
Shame DNA top mounts and skidplate hadn't arrived, was really hoping to get it all done in one go...

Will make a photo session when I pick up the car tomorrow hopefully.

Building up an exoskeleton of filth on the poor thing.

It’ll get a thorough decontamination over Christmas, but until then I’m hoping there’s still some metal left underneath…

Absolutely convinced that an all-season like the Crossclimate is the way to go in a British winter, they’ve been so sure-footed in these chilly conditions.

Thinking about horns, dug my PIAA out of the loft.

So riddle me this, the standard POS Denso is a single wire horn, via the connector, so the bolt must be completing the circuit?

There's two mounting points in the original mounting location of the OE horn, so in theory would it not be possible to connect the spade connector to those bolt locations instead as those must be acting as a ground?

Or am I fundamentally misunderstanding something there?

Also how salvageable is the connector? I was wondering if I could make a splitter out of a horn (they seem pretty cheap on eBay, and universal to Toyotas)... Meaning the horns just clip in rather than cutting off connectors.

Horns usually work on an earth return system. This means the live + is permanant and the earth - is made when the horn button is pressed.
I'm not sure if this is the case with the GRY (still haven't got mine) but you can easily check by disconnecting the earth, have someone press the horn button, and at the same time ground the earth cable.

My car is ready to be picked up, but the side visors are still missing. Guess I'll put them on myself once weather stops being shitty and provides 2 dry days in a row.
I received a video in the morning showing Lanoguard applied, doesn't look too messy on vid (not that I'd care as long as it protects the car).
