GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Yes it's not mind blowing but it's one of those annoying niggles about the car I wanted to improve. I'm not constantly bending forward every time I pull out of junctions now. I'm also thinking of either replacing the seats or getting a lowering kit so I'd expect the vision to improve further once I do that.
 
New toys arrived today.
Forge inlet duct and the shortshifter.

Booked in for 1st service. The mileage isn't up, but I'm not going back in another month or so for a service, after a six month check.
 
Drove 250km of various small roads to our "boys weekend trip". Fun car to hoon around though this time with a passanger so kept pace little lower.
Current alignment is ok for tarmac but for gravel its too vigorous, maybe better with less toe out in front.

No traffic and beatiful scenery in fun car, great way to travel..!
 
Installed the forge short shifter and the inlet duct. But in my opinion i need to much power to shift the gears so i made a larger shift knob to test. So it works perfect for me. But the look isn't really nice😀

I might be missing something here, but isn’t increasing the height of the gearstick countering the reduced throw of the short shift?

Is it the same movement but a more direct feel?

Yes you are right. Now it's a bit a shorter movement as original but the knob is nearer the steering wheel. I think it's a more direct feel now. with the original knob it was to hard to shift for me (i'm not so muscular). I just drove it for 15min so maybe you get used to it if you drive it for a while with the original.

I have a similar setup. The short shift is fore-aft and with a higher shifter the shift is perhaps bit shorter but also closer to the steering wheel so like that it is short(er to the) shift(er) ;)

But left-right the movement is larger because of the higher shifter, thus helping reduce the risk of being in the wrong gate....
 
Well, now technically not today but the other day I went to have a look at the upcoming WRC New Zealand stages and as a byproduct caused a bit of a meltdown locally by some members of the rallying community spotting me and speculating that I was part of the Gazoo Racing team running testing/illegal recce in a fully branded car (the logic of this defies belief but its true I promise!).

Once news spread on the local Facebook groups all sorts of allegations of foul play as well as reports of locals complaining of bad driving etc etc came out. None of which were real, just local grumpy old men making stuff up.

Cue people who know me contacting to let me know what was going on in the private FB groups. Fortunately the Rally NZ reps contacted me after I reached out to them to let them know I was behaving and just taking some photos and they said not only had they had no complaints but they found the fuss it caused funny and they had no issue with me.

Add 15'' rims and its quite good match. Anyone has tried the Rally1 rake in their cars - funnily recce cars seem to have more normal suspension setup?
