GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I must be doing something wrong, or my car is broken.

In about 47k miles I'm just about to switch to my fourth set of summer tyres!

Yes winter wheels are at the ready, but I'm one tyre down after my bump in December, which dragged the tyre off the rim. They put an old mismatched tyre on and it's held air fine since then, and no visible damage to the tank-like speedline wheel so I'm eyeing up trying a set of the Crossclimate 3 Sports on them and hopefully won't need a new wheel. There's still over half the tread left on them though, seem to last forever!

The new Bridgestone scored highly for handling and fun and it feels it. Tyre wear doesn't bother me too much at that price, and when splitting out my mileage across two sets. Some of the offers at the moment are putting them at around £85 per tyre for a set of 4 fitted which seems like ridiculous value to me.

The red door handles are partly due to laziness, but I do quite like them, and they protect a bit from my better half's rings :)

This inspired me to check with Pirelli about the prospect of the undoubted winner of that test, the P Zero R, being made in a Yarisy fitment.

It's not good news :(

Sounds like you're doing something right! Mine has had to do a big chunk of boring motorway miles so far, something I'm hoping to reduce now that I've got a new job. Then I can try and eat my tyres up like the rest of you :LOL:

Yes I was pretty disappointed when I saw how much he raved about them and then checked the availability. I feel like I'm seeing a few tyres now in 19" and above, which seems crazy when I still consider an 18" wheel on a hatchback pretty big! I'm definitely pleased with the Bridgestones, and I imagine if the PS S5 comes out in our size it'll be quite a bit more expensive.

On a side note, I'm pretty glad I didn't go for wider wheels at this point. 225/40 R18 really seem to be the sweet spot in terms of £££.

As well as winning the most recent evo magazine all round best tyre test, aren’t the Bridgestones the new OEM GR Yaris tyre for all MY26/27 cars?

It's not the OEM cap that leaks, it's the expansion tank nozzle where the cap is fitted that is purposely split and when the heat & pressure reaches a certain limit, the split expands and releases some coolant.
 
Ok sorry must be coincidence the new cap solved my slight leak then 😄🤷‍♂️ your issue is different which is fine, Just saying for me it was 100% the cap.
 
I think the new tyre for 2027 model year is the Potenza Race. This is in the same segment as Cup2 and PZero R. I would be weary driving on a semi slick / track orientated tyre in cold rainy weather 9 months of the year in the UK.

Potenza Sport Evo would be better for our climate if that is the case. That’s the tyre I was thinking of that won best all rounder

I've hand several of these now. It feels deliberate and always from a sh!t box that can't let other people have nice things. My local PDR guy is always happy to see me though...
 
Car on the M1 in front of me went slightly onto the central reservation, kicked up a stone and now got a decent crack in the windscreen argh. In the process of booking auto glass as we speak, when I put my reg in on the website though it jsut says Yaris though there is a 3 door option. Will they know it’s the GR / is there a way to specify? I’m sure I saw there’s a difference. Thanks!

Only 3 door Yaris in present times is the GR.
