Plenty of rust on the edges of suspension components where the paint has lifted off. I’ll be looking to treat and paint those next year I think.

Tank Speedlines look great. Out of interest, do you notice much of a difference with the extra weight of the wheels compared to your summer wheels?
 
MFF mudflaps installed, they're really not lying on the bespoke aspect of the kit, every bit and screw fits just right, a breeze to install. Not really a mod I intended to do but my sideskirts and rear fenders already have some scratches from the occasional B road fun, I hope these will kinda limit the damage.

Also first service done at my dealership at 3500km, I had to provide the oil because they're not able to stock the GF6A 0w20 at the moment, but they were open about it so I had time to order the proper one, they also did the diffs and gearbox fluids replacement at my request, next service due in 6 months I guess 🤷‍♂️

It is noticeable, and these are at the more extreme end of the scale in terms of weight, at around 12kg. Other than how tired my arms get carrying them to the car, it tends to jiggle and ride a little more harshly at low speeds and over rough surfaces. The all season tyres and different offset probably get in the way of noticing any handling differences.

It does make it feel extra nice when it comes to putting the summer tyres back on through. Although that’s a bit like saying punching yourself in the face is ok because it’s nice when you finally stop… 🤔

In hindsight I’d probably choose something in the 9-10 kg range, but I’m a sucker for that retro rally look 😊
 
Mega commute this morning. 6am start, cold slushy and snowy mountain roads, fantastic, couldn’t ask for a better machine. Shame I had to join the motorway eventually.

Saw a red facelift GR20 plate at the M6 toll Grand Prix, looking rather dashing with its fancy rear lights. Unfortunately I was two cars behind in my lane so couldn’t do a Carwow style Mk1 vs Mk2 drag race away from the toll booth.

Nice! Will liberate a few more horses as well. Love mine on the MK1 and got the part throttle input down to a fine art now to maximise the choo choo flutter sound. One of the best looking and arguably best sounding (subjective opinion) intakes even if a bit pricey.

Its like this, for example in Latvia, roads in winter get salted or a sand salt mix is used to thaw freshly iced roads so they are not slippery, so basically you are driving over salt for multiple months of the year, that means in a few years of this all your underbody/cariage is red with rust, (we get a lot of cars for parts from the UK, or we did at least before brexit, and rust was not much of an issue for them, so i can understand your oppinion as well) now the cars that get stored like this are usually the fun car, not the daily car, and usually something older like BMW or something. As this is my fun car i could not imagine not driving it in the winter, but that is also i have prepared it for winter, mudflaps, anti corossion e.t.c.

  • Over two million tonnes of salt are spread onto UK roads each and every year. The majority is spread on to motorways and main roads. Less than a third of other roads are treated at all.
