GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Took my staffy Arty for a trip through South Czechia ☺️

Fitted Maxton rear diffuser.

What can I say? Quality sub par to TRD, but then that's reflected in the price.

Fitting it, very mixed opinions. There are no defined screw locations, you get 8 supplied self tappers and it's left to best guess. I put 4 in the ends, but the screws are too short to connect to anything in the mid section.

Initially tried double sided tape at the top, but after one hot day it's coming away as there is no lip, effective contact point or connection for it meaning when the tape gets super hot it just sags.

There are no spring panel clips so I've ordered 8 of those, a load of longer screws and some black Sikaflex. Looks like the bumper will finally become sacrificial!

It looks alright, it's just not the greatest fitting kit and instructions are (I'm not joking) generic for all models of rear diffuser they supply!

Any tips or ideas on how to secure the top before I sikaflex it would be gratefully accepted.

Verdict: because I like the look I'll give it 6/10

I bought the maxton rear spoiler lip and to be honest it's not great, I threw it into the garage roof space and forgot about it.

Factory diffuser looks better than the Maxton anyway.
In your opinion. I'm not sure the Maxton one is great, but the factory one is one of those lame attempts that is often found on the back of cheap shopping trolley cars that are trying to look less 'family bus'. But if you like it better you've already won as you've not paid £184 for a piece of plastic tat that doesn't fit very well 🤣

Yes but adding body kit bits is almost saying you wished you had a different car, a bit like a women with too much make up on often ends up looking a bit tragic and ugly.
I do have a different car, an RS3 saloon. Externally unmodified other than forged wheels and for that car I'm absolutely comfortable with the stock look. The GR is more of a play toy, and given the bouyant aftermarket suggests there's plenty of people getting involved. I don't see the rear diffuser delivers the same kind of impact as say highly pouty inflatable dingy lips or a BBL, more nip & tuck really, but each to his/her own and that's the magic of freedom of choice I guess.

Dropped into dealer this morning to book my cars first service for next month. I have got a road trip in Finland next weekend which will bring me close to 10k km on my return. €250 euro. Bargain coming from the world of bmw dealers.

Also saw they started putting special prices on all these new MK1 GR Yaris that they are trying to shift.
