GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Swapped my DNA seat lowering kit to SWM. Definitely more rigid now, less flex in the seat. However, the kit was missing one of the 4 M10 bolts, luckily I had one lying around, and the SWM logo on the seat plate is backwards (and yes, it is backwards compared to ones shown on youtube videos). Not a big deal, but a little disappointing.

Fitted MFF mud flaps, not terribly impressed by them, the surface scratches just by looking at them wrong. The fronts would rub on the inside on full turn, so I am worried they would get caught by the tire if reversing...
Instructions had pictures printed by an early 90s printer and some of them were almost impossible to make out.

Ended up dropping the front mud flaps, keeping only the rears on the car for now.
Huh, my Polyurethane ones from them were, and still are perfect, no rubbing, that is weird...

Would you share some pictures of the SWM set? Is this fitted to a MK1 or MK2? I'm looking to lower my standard seats in my MK2 GRY, 20-30mm would be enough.

SWM were looking for somebody with a Gen2 to visit them for product development a short while ago.

Wow, I guess you're really tall ! As I tried the MK2 and compared to the MK1, the seating position is WAY better (for me).

I have a long torso yes measuring only 1m93 (6'4"). For now I have a Recaro in my car but would like to swap back to the original seat as I'll use the car more on a daily basis.
Damn, I am 186cm tall and I think I am kinda on a limit of comfortable seating (in already lowered mark 2)

To be fair, the MFF flaps are mostly a cosmetic part, designed to require no modification to the car. I installed them because I was tired of the car throwing crap all the way to the roof of the car from the front tires, but didn't want to drill holes in the car. If you ever used them in a real gravel rally, they would probably rip off, and they'd likely never pass tech for rally here in Japan. 90% cosmetic/10% function for ¥36,000/£185.

Real rally mud flaps for the GR Yaris, like Dash from Okuyama require drilling lots of holes in the car and cost ¥72,000/£372

Glad I wasn't the only one who found that out with the MFF flaps!

190 here and the MK2 felt really comfortable compared to the MK1. Looking at lowering solutions ATM, might gain 7.7cm.

Today I took my car on its annual pilgrimage to get the undersealing checked over by Mark at Preserve and Protect near Glasgow…regretting the fact it’s now a 350 mile trip from where I live since moving but it’s always good to chat to somebody enthusiastic about cars and I’m able to combine it with visiting my parents for a few days.

There’s nothing like this roads wise down South, so returned to parents via the Mennock Pass (towards Mennock) then Dalveen Pass (A702) and then A708 past St Mary’s Loch to Selkirk. I had to double back for the Mennock Pass as from the M74 you do less of a climb and it’s better driven West to East, as is the Dalveen Pass but even the flowing roads in the ‘wrong direction’ towards Leadhills are amazing.

Car has its first MOT on Wednesday and still love how happy it makes me when I drive it even after all this time, it’s magic when it comes alive and flows through corners.

Same experience here, the fit is almost perfect, only requiring small adjustments, no rubbing anywhere, and so far they hold up fine, mind you I don't drive on gravel but I slapped them with snow and ice for two full days (we don't get much more in Belgium 🥲) and they did great, also my foot sometimes hit the rear driver side when I go along the car in my garage and I don't pay enough attention 😬, so far so good.

But yeah you can tell it's a really small company making them, the packaging was still nice though and the instruction were clear all things considered, with individual numbered screw packets for each step, kinda like Lego lol.

I'm looking for a couple of replacement floormats for my GRY MK2. I found some replacements from HKS but they're quit "shouty" and expensive. I would prefer some discrete high quality floormats which resist wear better than the originals. My originals are almost gone after 3200kms :(

How did you manage to go through them in such a short period of time?!

The ones in mine are holding up okay after three years and no especially careful treatment. I can’t imagine the mk2 mats are different?

I picked up a spare set of mats with my gen1 but after 36,000 miles they were fine. Now on gen2 over 7,000 miles and they look like new.

Stilettos can wear mats quickly.
