GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I've been running Crossclimates for a couple of years now, only thing I'd say is that in standard 225/40 size, they are noticeably narrower than the PS4S.
So you like them, which is promising. I decided to go for them in this size to have a “go anywhere anytime” set - and I like the Protracks. Wonder how the set will compare to the Cup2’s in 205/50 on the 7*17 EcoCorses - I am soon to find out….

Very early spring called for a change from studded to friction today 🤓 (drove 385km..)

I've been running Crossclimates for a couple of years now,.... they've still got over 5mm tread left after over 10k miles so it won't be anytime soon 😆
I must be doing something wrong, in the same time period/mileage/amount of wear per set I'm ready to try my sixth set of tyres on my 4th set of rims (not counting colours). And that's only counting summer sets 😱

Will post here when they are mounted in approx 2-3 wks

Quite a lot of those have been motorway miles, but yeah I have to say I was pretty surprised when I saw 5.1 and 5.2 m all round on the service sheet! Making me wonder if I still deserve to keep the car 😆 I’m curious now what the PS4S are at now on the summer wheels…

Had a set of original CC on my old diesel Yaris and they seemingly lasted forever.

(Time to head outside in shame to find somewhere to do some donuts)

I usually bolt mine on in November and find for the UK it’s an absolute go-anywhere machine. By March/April they definitely feel a little squidgier and I really notice the pick up in steering feel and sharpness when the stock wheels and PS4S go back on.

Sidewall is definitely quite a bit softer, but you’d expect that. Nice and predictable too when it breaks traction if you’re a little too enthusiastic accelerating out of a cold greasy roundabout.

No worries - you’re a point of reference… 👍

Nah, nothing wrong with that, you're just driving it as if you stole it, and that's how it should be to my opinion. (y)

Did a 100km or so short recce around local roads. Too seldom to get drive these adventurous runs. Roads more or less free from ice here except few forest patches were very much icy or slushy, proper Monte weather that is perfect for GR kind of fun. Happy how she goes. In winter have been driving with stock brake pads which work fine in these conditions.

Last weekend I visited Thruxton as between me and 4 other friends we had booked out the skid pan for a 2 hour session in our own cars which were 3 GR's and 1 BMW M2 OG, all in the obligatory Rally White :)

It was a great learning expeience and I can highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to "master" car control, or at least learn how to control a skid and do power slides.

My Cross Climate 2's were pretty decent even in the low grip conditions so for me using the handbrake was the optimal way to get the car going sideways.

It was also my first time ever driving an M car and what better place to do it LOL 🤣

All in all, great fun!!

Here are a few pictures, as you can see we had perfect conditions for sliding around and were fortunate the weather front cleared towards the end leaving a beautiful blue sky for the obligatory photo's and amazing reflections the skid pan creates.

So got it back today after the tyre puncture of last week. The wheel was actually damaged in a way that it is not usable anymore. The (early) decision to go on Protracks was right…🙂. And I just love the looks:

With the 235/45/17 CC2 fitted, the ride seems more comfortable compared to the 225/40/18 winters mounted before.

Look very nice. Are you using the CC as a summer tire ?
