I always buy cars that I like to drive, have limited production if possible, and are loved by the media, then use it for dry weather fun, salted roads end my season, this protects your cars value more than anything else.
I know they are for driving and for many it will be their only car and as such is a daily, but I use my work van in winter, or my wife’s daily when she lets me.
It’s not an investment buying a car, but it’s the most fun in my mind to enjoy your wealth, bikes and cars are in my veins, petrol only, EVs are the lamest idea in the history of motoring, and the public know it, even governments intervention cannot get the masses to buy one, they have failed to grab traction and with all the bad press, the nail is in the coffin for EVs, second hand values are frightening people from owning one, with high depreciation and high interest rates the monthly PCP deals are really expensive, the cost to charge on the go is higher per mile than ICE cars, insurance is twice the price, and they will all be scrapped when the battery fails, which is a certain, you won’t see 20 years old EVs on the road.
So the EV future is not certain, if the market won’t buy it, the car companies will go bust, and to survive they will drag on with hybrids as a sticking plaster, until we find a better solution, but hybrids are still primarily petrol and that suits me.
