GR86 Twittering noise at idle inside cabin

My car often makes a sort of twittering noise at idle when warm. Not always though. Has anyone else noticed it? It's not really a problem, but doesn't sound quite right.
  • Most obvious from passenger side, near glovebox
  • Can't detect it under bonnet
  • Linked to revs, but as soon as you touch the throttle it goes away / is drowned out.
  • Reminds me a little of the chirping fuel pump on GT86
  • The clip is a few seconds of idle, then shutdown which is when it is most obvious. The recording hasn't captured it very well at all :)

Is it not the blower fan?
To confirm, adjust the fan speed. The noise will change.

Not the fan - I turned the system off, and radio etc in case it was some speaker interference. It could well be fuel pump but I don't know why I can't hear it under the bonnet.

I'm at a loss then. It sounds like something spinning, and the only thing that spins near the glovebox is the blower motor. And it sounds exactly like a blower motor with a bad bearing.
 
Does it do it when you push the clutch in? what's the vents set too, it's odd.
 
I'll have to investigate further - I don't notice it all the time, esp with the radio on.

Hey mate, did you manage to understand what caused the noise? I have the same exact sound with the same exact description

I was noticing it again just yesterday, but have put it down to it being a "characteristic" of the car. As mentioned above, could be fuel pump/ injectors but I really don't know.
 
I dont get how we hear the noise just inside the cabin, nothing strange comes from outside. When the car shuts down you can clearly hear better, sounds like something that spins, im not sure about the fuel pump tho. My GR has 8000 km on the clock and the sound appeared just few days ago after a refill with RON100 gas

Digging up an old one here, but I've now noticed this (22k miles. Don't think it was as obvious before. Exactly the sound in the clip, not fan related. Wondered if anyone had any more occurrences / ideas?
I'm likely to just ignore it, it if its just 'one of those things'
 
I have a Buzzing noise in the middle of the dash at Motorways speed. And a passenger side intermittent buzz somewhere behind the rear seat. That one is driving me insane.
 
It sounds like an AC compressor to me but I'm NOT an expert. I just had a dodgy compressor in my last car and it sounds familiar.
