GR Yaris Turbosmart BOV dual or plumb back difference?

With electrically boosted turbo response can be quite good
For those that missed it, AMG will have a 4-pot with an electric motor on the turbo axle (e-turbo), meaning instant boost as which is expected for the C43 and C63 models. Now that would be quite some aftermarket turbo...

What issues? Who fitted it? Sure it had the o rings fitted properly?
I ended up having it fitted twice, first by Toyota themselves. Broke down 100 yards away from the dealership. Then by Forge Motorsport directly. Worked exactly like Atmos BOV should, lurchyness included. Then all of a sudden, 1 little rev and it conked out. I was doing a video at the time showing what it was like and it died on Camera. 😂Video shows it working perfectly fine, then 5 minutes later it dies. It sounded pretty good for a BOV too, not the typical sneezy - deflated balloon noises, very mechanical sounding.

Weird that. I had not lurchness like Subarus of old etc that you would esp notice after returning to standard. P.s says video unavailable bud

ok...well....thx for all the answers. I think I will then do some other mods first and come back to this when I am at some more boost. but maybe we have some more people here that add this recirculated bov that can report any benefits ;)

I have airtek induction with a turbosmart VTA DV, i get all the noises, get the chatter from the turbo and the hiss from the BOV, just like the Subaru days. Everything drives all as it did before all the mods.
It’s clas I loved it was even better with mst kit very similar to airtec.

I’m experiencing the exact same issue! I’ve got a Turbosmart Dual Port.

Did you end up fixing this issue? Do I need to put the stock bov back on?

I changed it back to stock and it hasn't done it since. I think the system is very tempermental towards atmospheric BOV's
I notice you had your air conditioning on as well. I’ve done a few experiments and it seems like this issue comes up when the air conditioning is on.

Is there any performance or reliability gained using TurboSmart Plumb back valve? Have noted some of stock valves being damaged, turbo smart would be more robust.

I have tried both the plumb back and the dual port. The OEM valve certainly does leak and opens earlier than the turbo smart valve with a remapped car. The plumb back version is actually a little quieter than the OEM and it does not open as easily. I get more turbo flutter with this valve. When you shut off it opens and dumps the boost instantaneously. The boost gauge in the car (scientific I appreciate) is like a switch. The dual port is a lot of fun but it does open quite easily. Every gear change above about 3000 rpm pshhhhh pshhhh. It’s not quiet……..pshhhhh 😁…….and from the passenger seat “you’re a knob” I ended up putting the plumb back on as one it felt like a race car, 2 I was tired of being called a knob and 3 it would sometimes run rich off throttle with the resulting pop and occasionally a little hiccup when getting back on the throttle. The plumb back does not do that.

For the cost it’s worth it IMO.

Does it fit with WT turbo elbow?
