Thinking about intake and under bonnet temps again recently, I haven't seen much mention of turbo blankets on here.

They are common on really big builds, but in my mind the benefits are still pretty compelling on even standard motors and they are not expensive.

Anyone running one on their Yaris? There seem to be generic ones for T3/T4 etc. so I'm wondering which might fit best.

Funk do one for the GR - I had one, and would never have one again. My turbo failed on track, leaking oil. The turbo blanket soaks up the oil, and holds it against the red hot turbo until it catches fire.

Thermomet or similar is a much better solution, but you need to send your manifold/turbo away for a few days to get it done.

Yikes!

Yeah that is the one negative thing that people say about them. We all think it will never happen to us, but…

Of course, any oil leak near the turbo can cause a fire anyway, but maybe it makes even a tiny leak/risk more likely to turn into something serious.

Ouch, whose bonnet is that? Is the fit good?
