Hi all, here is what is a very basic question, but, never having owned a car previously with TPMS fitted (TVR’s, MG’s etc) am just interested on how the system that is fitted to the GR86 actually works, and where exactly are the sensors located. Also, how accurate/reliable are they?
Many thanks.

My first experience too.

The sensor is part of the tyre valve assembly. The sensor sits within the wheel at the base of the valve.

I'm my limited experience with the GR86, the pressures seem in line with the pressure readings on my 20 year old Halfords digital pressure gauge although I have to use the table below to convert bar to PSI. I'm currently running 2.2 / 32.

I like seeing the pressures rising as the tyres warm up and I guess they could come in useful as puncture warning device but I don't fancy the hassle if I ever swap wheels.

2.0 - 29.0
2.1 - 30.5
2.2 - 31.9
2.3 - 33.4
2.4 - 34.8
2.5 - 36.3
2.6 - 37.7
2.7 - 39.2

That’s a handy conversation, thanks. Mine are getting to 2.7 when warm, feels over inflated even if it sits at 2.4 when cold. Will drop them down to 2.2 and see if that helps.

I agree. Mine are 2.5 when driving and feel that 2.2/32 is where they should be. I’ll give it a try as soon as the rain stops.
