GR86 The number plate thread

I may just have to bit the bullet and be a guinea pig for the square plate at the rear - will be stuck on rather than screwed so can always change it out ๐Ÿ˜

They must have had an early delivery as mine arrived in the post today:

Fits my 330x111 plate a treat:

There's a couple of lugs in the bottom edge if you want to line your plate up to them:

My HD velcro will raise them up a bit so I can centralise the plate perfectly

Hi, Iโ€™m getting my car next week and have a 5 digit plate. Iโ€™m going to do the same setup on the front as yoursโ€ฆ it looks great with that mount.

What do you have on the rear? Same size of 330x111? Any chance of seeing a pic on the car?

Yup, same on the back;

Might put it a tad lower next time I wash it.

86 FUN..... yes I requested this be entered into the DVLA Auction over 6 months ago. Have been waiting ever since in eager anticipation of the auction yesterday!
Gulp....my derisory max bid was a country mile off what it sold for. Here's hoping it does appear on a GR somewhere out there!

Well at least it went that way, there would be nothing more frustrating than it being snapped up by someone else under your budget.

It's a way of covering up the infamous visible dimples I suppose (although I've become quite attached to mine!).
I still haven't mounted my rear plate, but would like to given I could actually start building the miles now. I need to make a decision: just sticky-pad the regular plate to the car or is there a good-looking way of covering up the various dimples and lines someone found? I was convinced someone on this forum found a numberplate surround that covered the whole area but didn't look pants, but I've not found it via search yet...

Would be interested to know too as picking mine up this week

When I was 20 my work colleagues had private plates made up that read โ€˜PEN 15โ€™ and stuck them to my car on my last day before starting my new job. I had a leary Clio at the time and assumed everyone was pointing at my carโ€ฆ. Until I pulled up on the drive and my dad spotted them ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Today is the big day for Car Collection (finally!) and I had hoped to land and see these plates I had ordered from adorning the car:

However I was informed earlier today from the dealership that they are not fully UK legal as they don't have the 'Suppliers Postcode' on the bottom...
Needless to say this is the first I've ever heard of this, as my own car, along with many others on my street, have completely plain plates with no such number.

BUT did some digging and by the latter of the law, they are required! Not that I think its strictly enforced (my many years of MOT attest to that) I think it may be a case of Listers Cov being very risk averse..!

ANYWAY they are slapping their own plates on it for now and giving me spare adhesive to swap later if I want.

Just means I can't show off my square plated rear end just yet ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Happened to snap yours yesterday as I went to pick up some parts, got to say the pictures online don't do the red justice - in person it's so much better. Was the first GR86 I've seen ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Just about to reply to you on the delivery tacking thread.

Will update for the square plate curious amongst us whenever I get around to putting on my other plates (maybe before It gets ceramic coated), but for now I'm just enjoying the car ๐Ÿ˜
