GR86 The GR86 & Supra confusion collation thread

So what is it?

(Looking at the colour, I know one thing - if it were on AliExpress someone on here would have bought it by now...)
 
I'm going to get a couple of these from ebay to add to the back of my car - no more of this nonsense and no more explaining "so what is it":ROFLMAO:
It's a Z4 supra mate.....I've given up explaining it's a GR not a GT86 and showing them on wikipedia the differences 😥

My car was not confused by a supra, so far. At least in my presence.
When being asked by regular folks what I drive, the response is "never heard of that. Sounds fast/sporty." Only once, some one guessed, it must be the GT86 successor. Most of them don't even know the supra.
Or when they see the car its "looks like a Porsche" 🤷‍♂️ could be worse.
But I don't have that much contact to other car enthusiasts.
 
I was parked track side at Croft on Saturday, lunchtime break so had my chair out next to the car.
Guy "so whats that then 310-320?"
Me "what? BHP?"
Guy "yeah, it'll be the same as mine"
Me "oh no, this is about 230"
Guy "it's a six though - like mine, it's a Supra though, yeah"
Me "so you must have a Z4 then"
Me "this is a GR86, flat four, 2.4 litre"
Guy "so it's not a Supra then"
Me "no, it's a Toyota GR86"
Guy "nice car though, nice colour, like the wheels"

and he went on his merry way . . .

Did have a lot of double takes and lingering looks as people walked by

At the weekend I used the excuse of picking up a curry to go out for a B-road blast > cash machine > curry house.

When i arrived to pick up the order there was a lady in there who s fairly new at our work. She was there with her son.

When she walked into the office this morning, she announced to everyone that her son wants to buy my Supra, and said all the cringy things that driver-car-people (rather than posing car-people) shudder inwardly at the sound of. there was a revolving door of people coming into the lunch area to heat up their lunch while i was eating my Panino and each one thought it relevant to encourage the next to ask me loads of questions.

I've spent my entire lunch time answering said stupid questions about my car now including "has it got a cherry bomb?" The OG-question asker also seemed adamant that it was actually a supra, because it looks like one and sounds like one.

The one guy at work who i talk motorsport with and keep updated on my car ventures (He actually knows what a turbo is amongst other things) was sat there quietly cringing for me because he knows how much i can't stand talking car stuff with people who "used to have an A3 S-line".

Help me.

Ah yes, the "S-Line, N-Line, M-Sport, AMG-Line" (et-al) people that don't seem to understand a trim level over a properly engineered car. My next door neighbour, who's in his late thirties. is a sad 'Up-Badger' - with a debadged 2L diesel 320d now fitted with an 'M' logo and 'M performance' side decals. How real M owners must cringe when they see it ... I feel embarrassed for him 🫣

😀 Wonderful to see the correct singular spelling there! So surprised that I nearly knocked over both my Cappuccini. 😂
