GR86 The GR86 “The Orders / Owners List / GR86 Register”

Take heart and believe, my driving enthusiast brethren!

Toyota have two years to deliver ~400 cars. That doesn't sound very difficult, and the first deliveries are (seemingly) scheduled for the next few weeks.

I know the information blackout from Toyota (not for me, but for many) is the opposite of reassuring, but it's a tiny quantity of cars for them to produce and deliver. We'll already be at 10% delivered in a matter of weeks, based on the forum's collective order updates.

Too much? ;):unsure::ROFLMAO:

I wonder how many of us will actually feel a bit better when one of us actually has one delivered? It would seem more real then and that orders are actually being fulfilled.
Yeah, I think this is the whole problem, that until someone actually gets the car, everything else is just speculation ; ). Until then, we are in the dark.

I think you could be right, at the moment we've all paid a deposit on a unicorn!

My phone call was not all bad news they said I would definitely get a car. Reference the Toyota Lady at Goodwood FOS. I also had a chat and sat in the car and the lady told me it was around 400 cars total coming not per year and also she said Toyota GB have no idea on delivery of the cars only that it was within the 2 years .

Just to add to the chaos of being told this morning on the call that that it could well be 2024 delivery I have now had and email this afternoon from the dealer saying delivery still. On track for September. There are no date showing using the order number and development tool.

I believe the truth is that know one knows when the cars will delivered until they enter the being built phase on the App. I feel certain that everyone will get a car who has an order number as they have all next year to pull their finger out.

Keep calm and carry on 🤔

I just had an email today to confirm receipt of my '2nd form of ID'. I had to check (as I couldn't remember sending it) and I sent that to Toyota about 6 weeks ago. Are you lot keeping the buy online team so busy with phone calls and moany emails that they haven't got any time left to complete the orders? :ROFLMAO:

I had the same email today including private plate info. I sent them those details on 17th May...

Tbh, just happy for any update to know things are actually moving in the background somewhere

17th of May was when I sent mine too. I'm also perfectly happy for it to happen in its own sweet time. In the process of a house purchase at the moment and I hadn't budgeted to do both at the same time. I was notified that mine was in build the day after I had my offer accepted on the house. Cue running around the next week or so trying to generate another 30k as I had no idea of timescales.

Isn't the issue a change to EU legislation, which as we're no longer part of the EU shouldn't really be an issue for us - quick call Smug - we finally have a Brexit benefit.

I imagine we will still be aligning ourselves with EU regulations for lots of things because it's easier (and in a lot of cases, sensible). So in reality, it's the opposite of a benefit - we are still holding ourselves to EU regulations, only now we don't get a say in their formation and application.

But even if that isn't the case, I doubt very much manufacturers would bother to continue selling cars just to the UK. They'll probably just consider us part of the larger European market, and if they can't sell the car there, I doubt they'll want to consider us a special case.

I guess it depends on the volume of sales? For example I read somewhere that the U.K. are the highest purchasers of BMW outside of Germany and USA. So it would be in their interest to see us as outside EU if there was a way round EU legislation?

But depends on total volume of EU country sales?

I hope so. I'd like nothing more than to see them supply as many as they can. But I would have thought that was the intention, then we wouldn't be constantly hearing about their intention to only sell the car for 2 years. Can't see that being a decision which changes, unfortunately.

It is yes, I did find an article saying that the UK were considering no longing adopting the GSR*, which could allow the UK to sell the GR86 past '24, BUT I didn't want to be one to stir up the pot and build a vicious rumour on here. 😅

*the source was the Independent

Shame it's not the Supra being cut off then, they might have thought differently :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Got the email from Toyota this morning, first comms ever so far:

"Thanks for your email and please do accept our apologies for the delayed response. All orders have been processed in chronological order and the cars will be planned and allocated to those orders. Please understand that your GR86 could potentially land in either 2022 or 2023 allocation. The Vehicle Order Tracker in the myT app will remain in the "Order Processing" stage until the next stage which is when your GR86 goes into production.

I'm sorry I'm unable to provide any further clarity at this particular stage and if there is anything else I can try and assist with please do let us know. "
