From my experience with ordering the GR Yaris online, I did not get a call days after ordering. This was at a time well after the order books had been open. I imagine Toyota GB has a mountain of orders to process with the GR86, so sit tight they'll get to everyone.

Despite asking for updates to the ordering process my local dealer rung me about 1.30 on Wed to say I needed to order online, luckily I’d done so a few hours earlier…

To do this:
Go to your User ID in the top right corner of the page > Account details > Scroll down & add Location

Order confirmed at 10:10 on Weds, Magnetite manual. £1k deposit cleared from bank yesterday, no followups yet from Toyota.
That's more encouraging, at least it backs up the Autocar story rather than the 40 minutes PH story.

Cheers @SJR202 , your general location helps a lot to see who is local(ish) to you for meet ups. I'm hoping to organise something in Yorkshire ASAP when cars arrive so we can all have a good luck at the colours and I can moan about the fugly calipers
