Have to admit I'd love to have seen the GR86 in the GRY metallic red, think it would look great. Also a British Racing Green would look nice. But like you say, its Subaru colours by the sounds of it - I do like the WRC blue you cant get on the Toyota though . Anyone else always want what you cant have!!

Hoping to reserve an Electric blue MT today, called a dealer yesterday and they offered me a silly part ex price (50% of its market value!) so having to go elsewhere

Probably didn’t want to deal with the car. My dealer didn’t even offer me a price when I was getting the Yaris as he said he couldn’t compete with WBAC at the time.

I think they are both colours you need to see in the flesh , preferably outside of a showroom , to be able to make an informed decision

Well I know what the electric blue looks like, same paint code as the club series blue GT86, the red is unknown in the flesh. Fortunately there is plenty of reference material going for both online, will be thouroghly going through it all before I decide next week.

The paint code for Electric Blue , DAR , is the same as GT86 Blue Edition so that is a known it looked great on this one I tested

I’m confused (easily done) by the Electric Blue paint colour. Apparently it’s the same as the GT86 Blue Edition. But is it also the same as the US/Canada Neptune?

Yes, it’s all the same colour code, DAR, but has different names depending on the market.

Let’s all remember the GR-Zoo is an inclusive and friendly place for anyone who is a GR enthusiast. Debates over ”which is best, manual / auto” or “why would anyone” inevitably end up in acrimony and ”moderation“ being required.

If someone choses an Automatic it’s their choice and they shouldn’t have to defend that decision. So can we please congratulate anyone who chooses a GR86 of whatever variant and help continue build the GR-Zoo into the community where everyone is made to feel welcome no matter what GR they drive.

Why? I wanted my next car to be an auto then the Yaris came out manual only. I find no enjoyment in changing gear it’s just a chore. I do enjoy winding a car through twisty roads and would much prefer 2 hands on the wheel.

Doesn’t make me or the next person any less the enthusiast.

I had a test drive in the GT86 Auto (the one in post #108 ) to try out the auto , it’s the same unit in the GR86. The box is fine , not as quick as a VAG DSG, but not slow or detracts from the enjoyment, and still way quicker than I could change a manual. The thing I noticed was the torque dip, felt like an engine flat spot. Hopefully the 2.4 has sorted that and it should be a great drive at “sensible” speeds on a B road

Interested in your thoughts on dropping quite a bit of BHP from the GT4, I’ll be dropping 260ish BHP but at least I should be able to use what I’ve got

Really struggling myself as to which transmission to order on Monday.

Learnt manual of course years ago, been driving an auto for years. Really undecided and only days to make up my mind.
Yesterday was dead set on the automatic, swaying again to jump to manual. Almost wish it only came with one option now.

Did you know that Comma.ai make an Autopilot that will be compatible with the AT GR86. I have one and used it with my Subaru XV with Eyesight. It drove me across Europe several times a year for the last 2 years! Absolutely awesome and a game-changer if you do long journeys.

It won't work with the MT though, as the Lane Keep Assist and Dynamic Cruise are not included with it...

Maybe something to think about whilst you make your decision!
