GR86 The GR86 “The Orders / Owners List / GR86 Register”

For me all I’d like is a steer on dates, Toyota have really handled this quite poorly and the fact that a month from ordering they still haven’t given an update is frankly rubbish. If it’s next year then so be it but at least tell people?
I’m convinced their head of PR leaving in Feb has had a knock on too as their releases are just nowhere near his level.

Just some contact would be useful, even a generic email saying if you haven't had "the call" yet you won't see your car until next spring or whatever?
I jumped the gun sold my current car whilst the value was high but now I don't know whether to get a stopgap fun car or not as I have no definite idea when my GR86 will arrive I suspect next year sometime but I'm just guessing.
I still believe they are only calling customers who will get a car this year (which isn't very many) & leaving the rest of us hanging, the calls certainly seem to have dried up

Dealer just contacted me again following his question to me yesterday to ask if any contact yet.

He has taken my ORCA number to see what he can find out. Doubt he’ll get much insight but at least he is taking the effort to look.

Think he still feels bad he did all the finance application ahead of launch day which meant my finance was declined on the day.

I honestly don’t know how it is taking them so long not only to contact everyone but to actually order the cars from Toyota!
Yes they sold out in 90 minutes BUT they expected to sell out within a week so they should have been prepared!
They have allocated 400 cars for the UK which must have been agreed with the factory. You would Assume that these would have been allocated at least a batch slot in the production line with x amount in each quarter to achieve the 400 builds before 2024.
This should be a very simple thing to communicate with everyone. TUK really need to step up at this point.

I have cars on order from Porsche and BMW as well as the GR86. Communication is poor from all of them. No difference really I think they are all in the dark on supply of components etc. friend just ordered an Audi delivery around a year but can’t be precise. World is in a mess post Covid no easy solutions. Recession will be the only thing to slow demand

ToyotaGB online orders office at 10:01 am on 20/4/2022...

ToyotaGB online orders office after realising they've let too many people order cars and not wanting to call people...

Are you managing to have Porsche freeze the Price on the New Vehicle Order Form irrespective of any promised allocation date (quarter period) but no firm build date which are slipping, an interested party slightly loaded question?

At GRY service today Toyota dealer said price is fixed is have an ORCA/Order so that is good.

Price protected on Porsche for time being but no absolute Commitment !! It’s a grey area

Porsche were asking buyers to sign a document saying a 10% uplift in price if you wanted to stay in the queue at the time of BREXIT in the event of no deal and tariffs being introduced. Maybe Toyota not doing such a bad job after all

Fortunately we are all passed that. Thanks for coming back, will see how things go. A long wait seems to be in place for any new car, but at least GR86 will be unique.

Hi All
Just a quick update from me. My order confirmation was 10.17am on the 20/4. My app is showing as processing order (which it has been for quite a while now) and still no call from Toyota UK. However, I’ve just received a call from my nominated dealer saying they can see it on their system. I’ve not tried contacting my dealer before so I guess something system generated must have happened to instigate them calling. Dealer was helpful but seemed slightly put out with this process. He said he can see an ETA of September/October but not to take that as gospel. So, to sum up - a positive surprise call on a Sunday!

Sounds like we’ve got the same dealer and I was a 10.17 order too. I’ve not heard yet but had an email from Marshall to do a survey based on recent call so assume I’ve been added to their list. What did you go for?

Yes Toyota Cardiff. Went for a silver manual. I’ve got a 2019 Rav4 company car but not had many dealings with them as it gets serviced somewhere else. What GR86 did you go for?
