There is an adjustment screw on the light unit itself so if you decide to adjust it and remove the light unit you will see it.
I think you could just turn the adjustment screw a couple times and refit as it’s unlikely to move and this will give you the clearance required but the o-ring option just means the adjustment screw can be screwed back in fully but maintaining the additional clearance due to the o-ring.
I think it would be worth doing it given how close the unit is to the bodywork. I checked my car when this thread was initially posted and the clearance looked fine but following a few drives it must have moved slightly and was subsequently touching the body/paintwork.
