Hi, I noticed a spare plug today, located LHS of brake master cylinder taped to the loom picture attached.
Can anyone tell me the possible use for this plug ?

Really want to know what this plug is for, does anyone have the electrical drawings for the GR86

It's difficult to find. I've only got electrical diagrams for the LHD configuration, which has the battery on the opposite side to the UK. That said, if Toyota just flipped the looms then the below diagram might help identify what it is not, just by process of elimination with the number of poles and cable colours. Good luck!:

As my car is away in storage I can only refer back to photos of the engine bay. It looks like mine has something similar, but it's well wrapped. I'm wondering if it's to do with the battery for US models, which would sit in this position?

As the diagram above the loom is different for the LHD's, and as you say well wrapped so cant be used often. Only use's 2 pins out of the 4 way plug

If it's only 2 pins/wires it's probably for a switch.
You could measure it for earth and voltage to continue further.

It’s obviously there ‘from factory’ and hasn’t been added by a random third party. You could hide it further with electrical loom tape if its exposure concerns you, but other than that I’d leave it be.🫣

I wonder if it’s possibly a connection point for a bonnet close/contact switch present in other markets/spec vehicles.

Ideally if anyone on here with a RHD Japanese market import would be able to check and see if they have the same plug and if so what, if anything is connected.

I think your right Hachi-roku, on the GT86 this was exactly where the bonnet switch was located, with it being a 2 wire connection that does suggests its a switch, its not needed on our cars as we have no alarm.

If that is the case it’s a pity we don’t know what’s involved with installing the alarm Toyota are now offering. If the main body harness has all the relevant connections tucked and taped and any modules and sirens bolt to brackets that are already present I’d be a lot more inclined to go ahead.

The thing putting me off is the prospect of a process involving drilling holes into the body and/or splicing components into the harness.
