Just got back from an excellent day in the sunshine at GFoS. I was very pleased to find lots of GR Yaris in attendance, including all the new models, rally cars, rally drivers and even the H2 hydrogen concept car. Here are some snaps from the day. Spotted two together in the car park on way out too.

This is paint? Absolut Horror.... never ever get this Edition, unless you really like pain.
If you ever have to repaint something, congratulations, you've hit the jackpot. This car isn't going to be anything more than a collector's car.

Totally agree.
Add to that the disclaimers about the weakened warranty on some parts of these Special Editions, and they definitely are something to store in a garage until the valuation gets high enough (to sell them).
No way I can stand keeping a car like the GRY stuck in a garage.
 
I appreciative that it's paint since that's what truly makes it unique. It would actually be disappointing if a more expensive special edition would just be a normal car with a wrap slapped on it. Too many companies are guilty of throwing out half-hearted special or limited editions just to make a few more bucks and Toyota is not an exception to that either.

Just makes it unusable, obviously PPF for the minor stuff but a huge cost if you have a proper accident.

And what's the problem with that? It's a limited special edition of a car. It's by its definition not a mass-produced item and that also has downsides. If you damage it it's value will drop no matter what. That's already the case with normal cars and it's even more extreme with cars such as this. But nobody forces you to buy it if you have a problem with that.

I just think people have their priorities wrong when it comes to stuff like this. It's like buying a normal GR Yaris and then immediately storing the original forged wheels because you are scared of damaging them. Toyota sold the car with those wheels for a very good reason. If you are that scared about actually using something that you have bought then why have you bought it in the first place?

But that's just my opinion on the matter. Of course people are free to do with their money and their property as they please.
I personally find the Ogier car way more attractive but Im not the target demographic for either. Most of these cars will go to people who don't have to concern themselves about money anymore and therefore making huge costs irrelevant.

You didn't but you mentioned huge costs. I just posted it in the MK2 thread but these cars will be 70 000 Euro here in Germany. That's literally twice as much as I paid for mine. These cars are quite clearly not meant for people like us who even have to think about huge costs.
 
I looked at the two special edition GRY at the GR racing stand. When I spoke to the chap and asked how many of them were coming here he didn't know but he did say that the two I was looking at were the actual cars owned by the two namesakes - their own cars and they had been asked to move them on by them. I didn't ask what they were going for as the saying says if you have to ask then you can't afford it. I wouldn't like to guess what they both sell for and who would get the chance to buy one. I suspect they were given them so hope it all goes to a good charity.
