GR Yaris Shifter Base Bushing Upgrade?

Hello everyone!

Lost my account details but managed to find it…

To update everyone, I went ahead with the lamspeed racing ones and boy they change how the car shift! It feels amazingly smooth, no issues at all.

Something I was beginning to notice was a little bit of ‘crunch’ going into second gear (either slow or fast gear changes) and these bushings have eliminated it completely!!!

Overall everything took me 4 hours (I dropped one of the clips inside the engine bay and spent a good portion of the time undoing all the under trays and wheel wells without a jack stand) and was well worth the upgrade.

Nice to hear it helped with the "crunch" issue also!
Mine are still to be fitted, that's why there was no update...

Don't worry, hadn't forgotten about it. Unfortunate series of events made it the only upgrade that is not yet installed. Just did shifter cable bushings yesterday - can also recommend!

There are different brands that have their own kits, lamspeed, Cusco, hardrace just to name a few

I’d assume it would work with the short shifter? I don’t see any reason why not, but don’t take my word for it, I’m not mechanically inclined

So reading this I was interested as it is a cheap upgrade, being in the uk chose the ZZW30 bushings, ordered these on the Monday received on the Thursday. Followed Amjad advice and used the YouTube video on how to install, took about 30 mins. Can’t say it made a massive difference but adds up.
ordered the hardrace shift cable bushing, took some time 13/7 arrived 3/8.
took around 10 mins to install but I needed to buy a cheap set of circlip pliers.
only thing I would advise is to use an old T-shirt or something as the circlip pliers don’t have a cutout and could fly off.

Cost me about £76 for everything including the circlip pliers.

just need to get some time to drive it .

Do you have a link to the bushings you used?

Quick follow up post - fitted all the bushes today with no issues other than struggling to not get grease all over the interior... Less than an hour's work.

Tegiwa's video was handy for showing how to pull the interior apart:

Yes I covered the interior with old T-shirts after watching the videos online.
T-shirts came in handy to use in engine bay to stop dropping things down to the undertray.

I'm currently minus an 8mm 1/4 drive socket and a 1/4 drive to hex adapter... Hopefully they're still in the undertray when I get a chance to drop it!

Took some month, but shifter base bushings finally replaced. You replace the metal cylinder and rubber with new parts. Since i've already done few mod to shifter, difference is not game changing, but shift feel had become more solid.

Yes it’s much more solid. It’s the difference between eating Pringles freshly opened vs eating Pringles 3 days later 😂. I forgot how rubbery the OEM shifter felt until I drove one recently
