GR Yaris (Gen 2) sha256's GR Yaris Mk2

So today the tech guy from dealer called and said that the oil I asked is exactly the same oil as they would put in, but comes in 5 liter canister. They said that they have the big drums with the same oil in it. That is why there is a difference in part code and price (2x as expensive to buy 5 liters and even more expensive to buy in 1 liter bottles). He assured me that the spec is the same and oil is exactly the same and adviced to just put in the oils they recommend, cause it's the same and I would be paying for nothing. Having no way to check this claim I agreed to put that oil in and save some euros 🤷
Ok, that is fair, we dont keep that specific oil in drums ourselves if they say its the same, then good. I did warn of that possibility though that is why i gave also the oils name and designation, good to know everything is as it should be !

You are correct, it comes in a 208 litre drum for workshop. It has a different part number from the 5 litre bottles but is the same product. I have serviced mine at Toyota in Tallinn with the Genuine Toyota AFE from a 208 litre drum. (I will dig out the part number tonight when home from invoice).

08880-83590
This is probably the part number for the 208 l drum

this is awesome, I'll compare to the oil they put in in few weeks and we'll see if the part number matches. Thanks Euge

Changed the oil today, and they used something else than the code you guys wrote. They filled my car with this: 08880-86087. The guy insisted the oil was the correct one. The spec seems to be correct: 0W20 AFE ILSAC GF-6A. Now I wonder why the number is different 🫤

As long as they insist they did everything alright, it will be on their head when it comes time to warranty work.
This is why i am servicing it myself and putting inside the best i can get myself, i order the oil myself for it, not looking at what the software says to put in. And as product manager in the Baltics said, the one i mentioned before in 5 liters is the best for our car available from Toyota.

Thanks for your insights Armijs. If my engine blows up it will sure not be me who's responsible for the oil choice :D Also they pumped the tyres for some reason to 2.4 all around, while the table on the B pillar clearly shows 2.2 / 2.0 🤷‍♂️

Toyota actually responded to my email and said it's to compensate the changing air temperature in the winter so when it drops way below zero it does not trip the TPMS light. As for oil, they said the code is different for 5L and 200L, but the code provided by @Euge was already for 208L barrel. Eh, I'm just gonna drive it like that since I have a confirmation now that they absolutely think they did the right thing. I'm yet to try full boost and bounce the rev limiter, exciting

I would not worry so much, you got the warranty and work documented by Toyota. I ran mine in with no harsh acceleration or high revs for 1000km. Then I just sent it and didn’t even bother with a running in oil change! I’m just going by the Toyota service schedule. My first service was at 9500km. I’ve had no issues with mine at all.

Do it, full send!! It's a Toyota.....

I did some full sending over the weekend, the car does it effortlessly. Initially I thought that the exhaust volume is fine, but now I think it's lacking when going flat out. Turbo seems to spool quickly, the power delivery is quite linear. Rev limiter sound is angry and awesome. I'm glad I chose the automatic over manual, it's very fast in both up and downshifts and brings me joy with the 8 gears. Normal city driving in traffic is a bliss too. The only downside (hehe) - it picks up speed very fast and I need to be extra careful not to go over the limit 😀

I know I bought the right car because every time I park it I take a look at it and think to myself: "thats a cool car". I'm sure most members of this forum are on the same page 😀

Having fire extinguisher in the car in Lithuania is mandatory and since there is no good place to put it I got a fire extinguisher bracket from F4 fabrications. Here is a discount code if anyone is getting it from them:

YOURFIRESAFETY25

They're made in Lithuania as well as the fire extinguisher quick releases.

Mounted the fire extinguisher.

Question to other Mk2 owners. While cleaning the engine bay today I found this flimsy plastic that seems not well clipped in. How is it clipped in your cars?

Mine is flimsy as well.

Not much to update, just driving the car as daily. Did a second oil change, only driven it for 5700km total. This time they put the same oils as it was reported by someone else in this forum, but it cost half the price, only paid 48Eur for the oil change.

Hmm, does not seem right, unless maybe it came from a 208 liter drum, right stuff should be a bit more expensive, AFAIK in baltics the default oil is the 0w-20 that is for Hybrids. In SuperService menus....

You are right. I checked the invoice and it was 61€ (with VAT). They put in this stuff:
