Why on earth would you want one of these on a road car? Reminds me of the old Mini's with straight cut gears.

That’s what I thought when I heard it! I remember a while back hearing a Mk 2 with a straight cut box (Jack Knight?) and it sounded just like that.

I guess it would be one of those heart ruling over the head moments or for the serious track dayer.

To be fair to the Classic Mini it's the straight cut drop gears that make most of the obnoxious noise. My Mini Miglia has SC diff, dog box, and drop gears & I HATE the noise it makes; I wear ear plugs to avoid a headache.

That said I'd gladly have a sequential box in GRY but the straight cut gears will get old very fast.

As much as I couldn't live with this, I still want to have a go at driving one!!!

This certainly makes this homologation-special-track-car-for-the-road extra special so why not!? ...completes the look and feel of this beast! ...although saying that it would be a travesty to give up the work of art manual gearbox in this car!!
