Another way to prevent rust is to live somewhere with no winters, hehe. Cars in Thailand have virtually zero rust. The obvious downside is you miss out on snow fun, but the trade is worth it. Cars age really well here, and you still get plenty of mud and gravel roads to go play on.

Honestly, the heat and sun have been way less of an issue than I expected too, depending on what part of the country you’re in. As long as the car isn’t baking in direct sun all day, every day, it stays in great shape.

In Norway, we typically have Tectyl, Mercasol and Fluid Film/Lanopro. Dinitrol is also something that exists here.
Tectyl, Mercasol and Dinitrol are kind of in the same category, in that they are absolutely amazing when applied to a completely rust free car. They last long.

They have one "scary" side is that if there is rust behind it, it is allowed to just continue and keep working, and you can't even see it, so if the car has seen salt, it must be very carefully prepped before treatment.

That's the positive with lano-treatments... Yes, you have to do them more regularly, but lano oil completely stops existing rust from developing further. It also creeps into crevices.

What I have been recommended is to go for any of the three hard treatments on a brand new car, and go for fluid film on a car that has seen salt before.

Yes had it steam cleaned and rust proofing type stuff applied first with the dinitrol over the top.
