Hello everyone!

I've had my 86 since August 2024 (290 miles), and I am loving every minute of it! I have been a fan of the 86 and dreamt of it since it was announced! She's currently my daily (looking into a runabout at sometime soonish). This is my first Sports Car, so I'm getting used to the RWD of things. I drove a Mazda2 (2019) before trading him in for this :)

I hope to get to know some of you guys and see whos around :D

I think my plan at the moment is to get some of the OEM parts for the Spoiler, Skirts, and Mudflaps. But they're pretty expensive 🙄
Looking forward, I am quite interested in Big Brakes cause I really want my brake callipers to pop out a bit : )

But at the moment I will see how I feel when summer comes : )

Hello and welcome

This may be of interest…

There is also the event at Dalry as well, have a look in that section of the forum. We might have a little 'drive' at some point this year too, I think those that took part enjoyed that day last year.

As said above @Zobb , welcome to the forum. Lovely to see another GR86 owner up here in Scotland. If you ever fancy showing off that glorious red car we’d be happy to have you with us at the Scottish Festival of Motoring (SFOM) in Edinburgh, or any other event for that matter! Just keep an eye on the ‘Events and Meets’ thread for things that are taking place.
If the SFOM thing in July takes your fancy (we have 5 GR86 and a GR Supra currently on our pitch) then drop me a DM. Don’t worry if you’ve never been an exhibitor before, there really isn’t anything to it; you park up, fettle with your car, eat your pieces and blether to anyone that comes past, but it does mean an early start on a Sunday 🥱.
Enjoy the new car. 🚗 Hope to see you around!

Welcome Zobb, so you have jumped from a Mazda 2 to the GR, fair play to you. The GR as I am sure you have found by now is very honest and will certainly be happy to let you know, it’s progressive when it does.
As the guys have said the are various shows and we do occasional meets. Cheers

Thank you! I will see what my schedule will look like when the new tax year turns over and I'll see what I can do :)

Thank you good sir, I am glad that there are a few Scottish 86's about :) I'll be keeping my eye open for events and things regarding our beloved 86's :D

I've never heard of the SFOM before, so I'll check it. I'm already attending Japfest this coming April (hopefully) :)

Welcome! The first GR86 I drove was a red one for sale in Glasgow, was absolutely sold on the car but held out as I wanted the blue. The red is definitely stunning though. I came from a K14 Micra so jumping into a RWD sports car has been an absolute thrill, hope you enjoy it too!

A few of us will be going to Japfest, I enjoyed it last year.

Thank you! It is a massive leap forward! At times I do miss my poor 2 but maybe sometime soon I will find a cheap runabout to keep my 86's mileage low :)

I love the way it handles but there are two things that I am looking towards changing with the feeling so far. First the assist spring in the clutch. Second maybe the accelerator throttle response. Seeing how Subaru/Toyota comes out with their e-Tune for the throttle response but that'll be a short wait to see.

Looking forward to hopefully seeing everyone sometime soon! :D

Hello and Thanks! I read your post on your 86! The blue is a fantastic colour. It was very similar to my test drive with the 86. I drove it and waited a week before committing to buying it. No regrets! Look forward to seeing our cars on the roads!

So far I got a stand ticket with the Cult86 so I would be going with them. A lot of GT86's and a handful of GR's. I went last year in my mates car and it was lovely!

You will get used to it, don't rush to change anything too soon. I have done 18500 miles now, but I did upgrade the gearbox oil and fit a billetworx heavier gear know. Both really helpful.

Thanks, At the moment I have only done about 2400 miles since August. I'm quite used to it at the moment but would like to see if there is much difference between with or without the assist. Will look around thanks. :)

Any reason for the gearbox oil upgrade? (just curious)

Smoother changes, for not a lot of money. I'll be surprised if that e-tune ever makes it to these shores.

Interesting stuff; I'll have a little peek at it soon! I'll be surprised aswell but there's going to be a way somehow if it ever does.
