GR86 Rear cross traffic alert

I didn’t realise the manuals had this.

Was backing out onto a main road today where my vision was obscured by parked cars either side of me and it detected a car coming - flashed up a warning icon on the big screen and beeped. Looking in the manual it looks like there is radar sensors in the rear bumper. A pretty useful feature!

I’m guessing it’s the same sensors used by the blind spot monitoring. Nice feature.

Had the same experience a few minutes ago. I already saw the other car but the GR saw it too, beeped and was flashing the side mirrors. I was amazed how early it detected the other car. Surely helpful if someone wants to sneak by.

The GR Yaris Convenience Packs in the UK have this, and it's very useful on occasion (both the blind spot alert and rear traffic assist).

What's the visibility like out the back of the GR86? The GRY has a small rear window, although I've had worse rear visibility. It's the side view when at Y-junctions that you can't see well, and the blind spot monitoring really helps.

Do you get parking sensors on all the GR86s?

86 has better rear visibility than the GRY (just saw the carwow review, don't have experience with the GRY myself). Blind spot detection is really helpful though.
No parking sensors on the manual 86.

The view through the rear window is pretty limited due to its slant. In bad weather conditions as right now, the rain drops block almost all sight - it sometimes felt like I have no rear window at all...

Only the cars with automatic transmission have rear parking sensors by default.

I'm surprised how good this is actually, particularly for reversing as when it's dark the camera is pants!
