GR86 Rear bumper cover

What are the thoughts on something like this?

Anyone have experience of something similar on the GT86?

Admittedly I really hate the plastic on the rear bumpers and think it looks out of place on both GT/GR86.

There's a couple of ones for the first gen cars, the main one that I can remember is made by Seibon. I've seen one or two in person and fitment seemed abit questionable.

I've not seen a black cover, but I have seen a BRZ front mustache covered in vinyl (same texture as the rear bumper), it looked ok but you could see the pattern through the vinyl.

A friend also had his bumper redone and got the textured area smoothed out, it would have been alright if it was done in black:

Wonder if the thicker black PPF would work, might speak to the guy when he does PPF to see what the options are.

I've been looking for a replacement for the rear dull plastics. I have not had much luck so far.

First I thought I struck gold with Grazio, but they don't sell it anymore. I've ordered a lot from them as well so there must be a reason they won't produce any more.


Also this on a velentai product car, which hasn't given me any leads.

The carbon one in the first post seems to be the only option but i like carbon to be a small trim accent piece. There is just too much of it for me

Why don’t you just get those pieces wrapped or Hydro-dipped? Probably cheaper than a new C/F jobby …

I’ve not had a close enough look but I think others have said it’s part of the bumper so hydro dip would be out.

Aimgains is a cover over the original bumper, I'm not a fan since it then sticks out on top of the lines of the car. I've since found out that the dull plastic part of the bumper is apart of the bumper, they cannot be separated or purchased independently. To get the finish i would want you need to paint it, grazio co is one company refinishing oem parts, but since it's the whole bumper i can see why they dont offer it for sale
