Fuel consumption to date - most of the high numbers include a 200 mile motorway journey

As the weather got hotter on the motorway at 60mph traffic conditions, I get 50-55 mpg consistently
Tested on m4 Reading to Windsor
Cruise locked to closest distance so hypermiling conditions. Who needs a hybrid!
Unbelievable!

But I bet you could get 80mpg in a Yaris. Not a gr. 😁

Our Prius does 60mpg on motorway. Wife is shocked to see this car can even do above 50mpg. In the city it is quite bad though. At around 28mpg average

I once got 81mpg in our Disco Sport. We were traveling down a road in the Alps, so lots of engine braking. I was pretty surprised to say the least.

I have taken my range down to single figures a couple of times and then brimmed the tank and both times it was less than 43 litres to fill, has anyone got any more in than that? (supposed 50 litre tank isn't it?)

I'm the same, 42.x litres when it's into single figures, doesn't make sense. Perhaps it's really a 45L tank [emoji102]. Reluctant to take it past 0 to try that out though!
When full it still never shows much over 300 miles either, but by the odo it's usually 330ish.

A very pessimistic gauge

Interesting and useful info from the last 2 posts, cheers (y)

Just catching up and reading through this thread. I’d be quite happy averaging in the mid/low 30s in my 86 when it comes. It will be a daily driver, but I find it incredible that my McLaren will return similar mpg, seems like witchcraft. Been in France for the past 3 weeks and over the last 2000 miles have averaged around 31 mpg. On a long run down to the Pyrenees averaged 35.9 mpg over 400 miles with the cruise set at mostly 85mph apart from a traffic jam for the last 20 miles.

I've found my reported fuel economy to be almost exactly 1 MPG optimistic compared to reality. My last couple of tanks have been around 33 MPG and the car has shown '1' higher.

Edit: total miles roughly 1700 now.

Average fuel consumption at 28.3 mpg with the last tank returning 34.2 mpg. Just under 3000 miles on the clock.

I also find the car's reported MPG to be around 1 mpg higher than calculated range, as per @garybee's observation.

Yep, pretty much at 28mpg myself (around 2500 miles) probably 50/50 town and A roads. Happy enough with that I guess
