GR86 Questions for new owners

My dealer hadn't noticed them. They're totally for JDM / US shaped plates. There are a matching set at the top of the bumper as well but hidden under most people's plates.

Well I picked mine up today, it was pretty filthy and going dark, but as far as I could see mine didn’t have any holes or divots, although they had stuck the plate on a bit lower down than on other cars I’ve seen. Will investigate in the morning.
I thought I’d been lucky but It seems I do have them after all, my plate is a bit lower so you can only see the bottom 2 holes, not 4 and it is so close to the lower holes that if you are standing the thickness of the plate and standoff from the bumper with the viewing angles mean they are hidden, but crouch down and they are fairly noticeable.

Here's a clear picture of all 8 dimples. If you have a standard UK plate with the black dealer bit that hangs off the bottom like the Jemca ones then you can actually cover them entirely if you're careful.

Yeah, if the plate was 5mm lower mine would be covered, but you can only really see them if you crouch down level as the plate thickness/stand-off mean they are hidden if you are standing looking down.

Hello.

Do the UK models have the autodimming rear view mirror and blind spot monitoring?

Hello there,

The UK models do indeed have blind spot monitoring (in the form of little amber lights in the wing mirrors); they work very well in my (500 miles so far) experience.

No auto dimming rear view mirror, unfortunately.

Thank you for the info. I have only been able to look at a static demo without the keys so could not check the blind spot. Noticed the old school mirror and was a bit suprised. I assume theres a simple retrofit if you really wanted though.

Or is there rain sensors etc to contend with as well?

You are most welcome, I've had my car for a week and a half now so beginning to get to know it a little.

There is no rain sensor; there is a (pleasingly to me!) rather retro intermittent wiper function with four speed settings.

Yeah, I think the manual dipping mirrors work better. I also like the stripped back nature of the GR86.

Sure you could add in electric seats, bigger infotainment, better stereo, extra sound insulation etc., but you’d end up with another 1600Kg+ porker and it would lose its magic. With all the fancy electronics found on modern cars, the wiring harnesses alone can be in the region of 70-80kg on some of the more luxurious vehicles.
